Richard Sherman, the star NFL cornerback who has seamlessly transitioned into the world of broadcasting, began his NFL journey with the Seattle Seahawks, signing a rookie contract worth $2.2 million in 2011. However, Sherman’s fortunes took a dramatic turn when he received a contract extension of $56,000,000 in 2014 from the same franchise. This financial boost allowed him to indulge in lavish purchases, such as buying a swanky Seattle home valued at $2.31 million.

Back in the day, Richard Sherman was one of the best cornerbacks any team could have signed. After all, staying relevant in such a competitive league for more than a decade isn’t an easy task to accomplish. Moreover, Richard has now transitioned into broadcasting with Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football. All this means that the inflow of cash in the CB’s account has been constant, which has ultimately allowed him to make some eye opening purchases.

A Dream Home for the NFL Star

The mansion in Seattle bought by Sherman back in 2014, was previously owned by Los Angeles Clippers guard Jamal Crawford. The 9,435-square-foot home, as per Redfin, caught Sherman’s eye at once. He quickly purchased the property for a whopping $2.31 million, soon after finalizing his $56 million extension with Seattle.

Located in an exclusive Seattle area, this lavish mansion offers a serene retreat for the star athlete. With its grandeur evident from the moment you step into the living room, the triple-height ceiling just takes your breath away.  The mansion boasts an array of impressive features that ensure both comfort and entertainment.

It has a game room for leisurely pursuits. While an indoor pool and hot tub provide Sherman the options for relaxation. It’s hard to conclusively say that Sherman’s a huge basketball fan but the property nevertheless includes a basketball court, and why not, it’s fitting for a home once owned by Los Angeles Clippers guard Jamal Crawford.

Moving ahead, each bedroom has its own private deck. The mansion offers a personal beauty salon, two floor-to-ceiling stone fireplaces, a gated entrance, and a state-of-the-art security system with cameras.

DeVonta Smith Forced Richard Sherman to Consider Retirement

Sherman, the former All-Pro cornerback for the Seahawks, recently shared a humbling experience that made him come to terms with the end of his NFL career. It was during a game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when Sherman had an encounter with talented receiver DeVonta Smith that served as a wake-up call.

Describing the moment, Sherman revealed, “DeVonta must’ve run this comeback (route)… I had him under control, I was like, bam, quick jam, easy, had him under control. He must’ve stopped and I tried to stop and my whole groin said, ‘Snap, snap, snap, snap,’ and I said, ‘Whoa, whoa.'”

The star cornerback continues, “Then you’re trying to guard and chasing him around and you’re like please don’t throw him the ball, please. My coach is looking at me on the sideline like, ‘Hey, you wanna come out, you wanna come out?’ “I’m like, ‘Yeah, but they’re in a hurry-up,’ so I’m like bailing out. At that moment I was like yeah, this is probably my last year.” Apparently, the sheer speed and quality of DeVonta Smith made Sherman realize that he could no longer keep up with the young and dynamic talent in the league.

As time waits for none, Sherman did hang up his boots almost one year ago. Although, the cornerback said that he’ll still train and keep in shape, hinting that he might have not closed the door fully on the NFL.
