Even before the 2024 season gets underway, Ferrari  have their eyes on the long-term prize. Along with setting the SF-24 up for success, they have made big upgrades to their roster for the upcoming seasons. While Charles Leclerc has reportedly signed a $30 million a year contract extension with Ferrari, the Maranell0-based outfit has also secured Lewis Hamilton on a whopping $100,000,000 per annum multi-year deal.

That being said, the financial details are all speculated in the media, as no team has confirmed any amount. When prompted about why, team principal Fred Vasseur explained, as quoted on X (formerly Twitter) via Motorsport.com Italia,

We decided this simply to not provide information that could be useful to other teams,”

While the financials of the deal have been broken out by media reports, the exact duration of the deals offered to both their drivers remains unknown. In any case, the Italian team does not follow a strict salary structure for the duration of their contracts. Both Leclerc and Carlos Sainz received a better paying salary every year of their association with the team.

However, this secrecy is a new for Ferrari. In the past, with both Leclerc and Sainz, the terms of the deal were clear.  This latest Leclerc extension and Hamilton’s signing could start a trend that all F1 teams would want to follow.

After Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, are F1 driver contracts going to become top-secret?

Ferrari isn’t the only team on the 2024 grid to adopt a veil of secrecy with respect to their star driver’s contract. McLaren, too, have been very coy about the latest contract extension signed by Lando Norris.

Even Williams has thrown a spanner in the works this year. Earlier, most outlets believed that Alex Albon’s contract would expire at the end of the 2024 season.  Now, it is being reported that the British-Thai driver is secured till at least the 2025 season concludes.

F1 driver agreements are very tricky and complex legal documents. With bonuses, performance-related exit clauses and options, it makes sense why even a small leak could enable a rival to poach a driver. This was apparent in the entire Oscar Piastri Alpine saga that saw him join McLaren instead of the French team.

Hence, it won’t be surprising to see this level of secrecy becoming a norm in the F1 paddock soon.

Charles Leclerc has grabbed all the limelight recently after he released four new songs on February 16. In an episode titled, ‘Dreamers,’ the Monegasque produced his recent songs in collaboration with famous French composer and pianist Sofiane Pamart. All of Leclerc’s songs are available on Spotify. The Ferrari driver’s latest music is likely to grab his fans’ attention, having received immense love for his singles last year.

Several of Leclerc’s music topped the iTunes charts and he became a music sensation as a result. Here is a deeper look at all of the music Charles Leclerc has released on his Spotify account and some other frequently asked questions about the same.

How many songs has Charles Leclerc released on Spotify?

Prior to his latest collaboration with Sofiane Pamart, Charles Leclerc released a total of three hit singles last year. The Monegasque titled them AUS23 (1:1), MIA23 (1:2), and MON23 (1:3).

Among these singles, AUS23 (1:1) garnered the most interest from the fans. This single had over a million plays on Spotify itself. One possible reason why AUS23 (1:1) was loved by fans the most is because it was Leclerc’s first release.

With his latest release of ‘Dreamers,’ Charles Leclerc has now released a total of seven songs on Spotify.

What is the meaning of the titles that he has given to his songs?

One frequently asked question about Charles Leclerc’s songs is what is the meaning behind his titles. Many fans on social media have often wondered why the Monegasque would give such simple names for his titles.

When asked about the same in an interview with Monaco Hebdo last year, the 26-year-old revealed that he had trouble deciding upon the names for his music. He revealed that since he does not consider himself a professional artist, he wanted to keep the names of his music simple. As a result, he decided to ask his race engineers for advice.

He then explained the advice he received from his engineers by stating, “I asked them if they had any idea what to call these titles. I didn’t want to give a “real” song title, it sounded too professional, and I don’t consider myself an artist. They said to me: ‘You should name them after the last Grand Prix you did’. So that’s what I did“.

What is the inspiration behind Charles Leclerc’s songs?

In another interview, Charles Leclerc revealed that he has always been passionate about music. Hence, whenever he returns home to Monaco, he revealed that he takes some time off to play his piano. However, he revealed that all the music he has released so far has been random and that he never had a plan to produce them the way he did.

In an interview last year, the 26-year-old said, “I play as soon as I get home in Monte Carlo. Three days ago I got on the piano and I came out with something I liked. My songs are always born like this“.

Who is Charles Leclerc’s favorite artist?

If Charles Leclerc does not have any particular inspiration when he produces his music, then the question that arises is whether any artist is his favorite. In an interview with ESPN in 2022, the Monegasque revealed that German music composer Hans Zimmer and British rock band Coldplay are two of his favorites.

Does Charles Leclerc want to collaborate with Lewis Hamilton?

Another F1 driver who is very much interested in music is Lewis Hamilton. The Briton himself has lent his voice to a song, Pipe, sung by American singer Christina Aguilera. He did so under the pseudonym, XNDA.

The primary reason why the 39-year-old chose a pseudonym is because he revealed he is shy when it comes to singing. Hence, he did not want his fans to know that it was him who had collaborated with Aguilera.

However, that has not stopped Charles Leclerc from wanting to collaborate with the seven-time F1 champion. The Monegasque revealed in an interview last year that he could play the piano, whereas Hamilton could sing for their collaboration.

Since Hamilton will join Leclerc at Ferrari next year, there is a real possibility that such a collaboration could take place between the two. The Italian outfit can perhaps ask both their drivers to perform together for one of the team’s promotional events.

Despite a whole lot of frustration, Charles Leclerc decided to extend his contract at Ferrari beyond 2024. Their partnership has not yielded the desired glory in terms of wins and championships throughout the mega 5-year deal signed in 2020. Still, Leclerc and Ferrari wish to continue their partnership for “several seasons” beyond 2024. This ambiguity of the duration of the Monegasque’s contract is perhaps the Italian team trying to stay ahead of the curve in the paddock.

Call it keeping their cards close to the chest for gauging future moves like in chess, Ferrari doesn’t wish to lose Leclerc for sure. A talent like him is likely to get any sort of offer he wishes from Ferrari’s rivals.

Besides, Ferrari also signing Lewis Hamilton on a multi-year deal locks in their driver lineup for the next two seasons at least. This shows their futuristic long-term planning with stability as the focus. Certainly, the Prancing Horse needs that, given they wish to fight consistently at the front for the championship.

Speaking to Sky Sports F1, Frederic Vasseur also gave his thoughts on why they are keeping Leclerc’s contract duration under wraps. He said, “Charles’s contract is long. One strategy is not to communicate the duration detail so as not to reveal it to competitors. It could help them.”

Given how chaotic the 2025 driver market will be, with many drivers out of contract this season, it is good that Ferrari have sorted their lineup. Moreover, Leclerc could become a driver in demand if teams know about his contract expiration. That could leave the Italian team vulnerable to a seismic shock as Mercedes got about Hamilton.

Why is Charles Leclerc so keen to stay put at Ferrari?

While there is no official word on the duration, Charles Leclerc certainly has a long-term deal at Ferrari. With so many missed opportunities and blunders that frustrated him, why has the 26-year-old chosen to pen the extension at Maranello?

The answer is pretty simple – Leclerc wishes to become a champion with Ferrari only. On the realistic side, he did not have any strong prospective team to go to where he would be in a prime position to win. So, as he knows the Italian outfit is the best place he can be, it made sense to extend.

Knowing the team for five years, Leclerc has become the center of Ferrari’s F1 universe. While Hamilton coming on board may dilute his golden boy status, the Monegasque knows that the team will give him as much importance as the Briton.

The #16 driver believes that Ferrari can deliver a title-winning car sooner or later. Despite all the challenges with the failed 2022 title campaign and the extended struggles last season, Leclerc is seeing progress at Maranello. Under Fred Vasseur, things seem to be on the right trajectory.

So, at this stage, switching to any team may be impulsive and a borderline blunder for the 26-year-old. Leclerc stated about his extension, “But most of all, I believe in the project, and I believe we have the best chance in order to become the best car on the grid in the next years. So this is why I renewed with Ferrari.”

In 2023, Red Bull put up the kind of dominance that F1 had never witnessed. Winning 21 out of 22 races, the Austrian outfit surpassed McLaren’s 1988 record for the highest win rate over a season. The Ayrton Senna-led side registered a 93.8% win rate while Red Bull bettered that courtesy of Max Verstappen’s 19-win season with 95.5%. While the season turned out the way it did, Charles Leclerc had already prepared for doom.

Even before the season began, the Monegasque was well aware of what was to come during the testing in Bahrain. After driving his Ferrari and witnessing what Red Bull’s RB19 was capable of, the Monegasque threw in the towel.

In a recent interview on the YouTube channel IDREAU, journalist Julien Fébreau recalled his conversation with Leclerc. Fébreau quoted him as saying, “It’s over, season is over.”

The Canal+ commentator tried consoling Leclerc, urging him not to come down heavy on himself. However, the 26-year-old remarked, “It’s not only me or Ferrari. Ferrari, Mercedes, everyone will get destroyed by Red Bull.”

After suffering a royal drubbing in 2022, Ferrari was seething to exact revenge in 2023. Charles Leclerc, in particular, had missed out on several race wins a year before, owing to some unlucky DNFs and strategic blunders. However, that dream of taking the fight to Verstappen remained a dream for another year.

The Prancing Horse walked away with a silver lining, though. They were the only non-Red Bull team to win a race in the season. However, to Leclerc’s disappointment, that came through his teammate Carlos Sainz.

Charles Leclerc prepares for another title showdown

Team principal Frederic Vasseur minced no words while assessing Ferrari’s failed 2023 season. The French manager highlighted the need to bring about several radical changes in Ferrari’s design strategy. As the SF24 was in the final stages of development, Vasseur revealed the team had managed to achieve that with 95% new components from the SF23.

The Maranello team unveiled its 2024 challenger on February 13, also hitting the track on the same day for the shakedown. Leclerc, who was the first to take it out for a spin, gave positive feedback.

He said, “I remember that after the first lap last year, or it was the first three [or] four laps, I wasn’t really happy with the behavior of the car. The car was very, very difficult to drive. This year, the car feels healthier and in a better place.”

The Monegasque, however, was quick to curb the expectations. He highlighted how important it was to not judge Ferrari in solitude. Leclerc pressed on the need to see how much progress other teams have made before making a comparative analysis of the “competitiveness”.

Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton grabbed all the headlines at the end of last month when he confirmed that he would snub Mercedes for Ferrari in 2025. Although the spotlight has been on the Briton ever since, many have focused on how his move to Maranello will change the dynamics at the Italian outfit. Some F1 experts believe that Charles Leclerc will not appreciate Ferrari bringing Hamilton on board as this move will only add further pressure on him. However, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur is not one of them. The Frenchman believes that Leclerc will see this move as an opportunity for him to become better as a driver.

While speaking to Sky News Italia about how Leclerc reacted to the news that Hamilton would be moving to Ferrari in 2025, Vasseur said, “Leclerc is an intelligent boy. He understood immediately what he will be able to obtain and learn from this collaboration. He sees it more as an opportunity“.

Similarly to Vasseur, Leclerc himself has revealed why he will welcome Hamilton to Ferrari in 2025 with open arms. The Monegasque said that since professional drivers like him want to compete against the very best, Hamilton would help him do exactly that.

Even though Leclerc has made such claims while speaking to the media, several reports have stated otherwise. These reports claim that the 26-year-old is not happy that Hamilton will replace Carlos Sainz next year.

Leclerc’s entourage was reportedly shocked to hear about Hamilton’s arrival

According to Corriere dello Sport, Charles Leclerc and his entourage are “disappointed” by the news of Lewis Hamilton’s arrival at Ferrari in 2025. The report adds that the Italian outfit’s decision “shocked” them as they had no idea that the Briton could sign for the team when Leclerc was negotiating his own contract.

Leclerc signed a new long-term deal with Ferrari, just a few days before the team confirmed that Hamilton would join them in 2025. However, there is no clarity available about whether Leclerc signed such an extension with the knowledge of Hamilton’s arrival or not.

On the same lines, another question that arises is whether Leclerc would have decided against signing an extension, had he known that Hamilton would join him at Ferrari in 2025. Although no one can know for sure what the chatter at Ferrari has been in the past few weeks, the only thing that seems certain is that the Prancing Horse are likely to have one of the most formidable driver line-ups next season.

Hamilton is a proven champion with seven titles and 103 race wins to his name. On the other hand, many experts believe that Leclerc is a future world champion, and all that the Monegasque needs is for Ferrari to deliver him a strong car.

Charles Leclerc has been one of the most talented youngsters to embrace F1 in recent years. With his skill set, the Monegasque driver has garnered a lot of praise for his superb qualifying pace. Given his intense love for racing, one may wonder where the desire originated from. His father is the answer to it. Leclerc has previously disclosed that his father instilled a love of racing in both him and his brother. Interestingly, for this special influence, Leclerc also honored his dad by dedicating a helmet to him, which ended up fetching $331,000.

A video that was posted on the fan page for Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz features Charles Leclerc and his brother Arthur discussing a very special period in their lives.

As the video goes on, Leclerc disclosed that he and Arthur will both be paying honor to their father over the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix weekend by designing helmets that have the same tone as their dad’s. Leclerc said, “Our father gave us the passion for racing. We took exactly the same design. I’m sure he will be very proud of us seeing both of us racing in Monaco.”

This special helmet, which Leclerc donned for Monaco race weekend, then became the most expensive headgear. This occurred because the Monegasque put the autographed Red and White Bell HP 78 helmet for auction to raise funds for the Emilia-Romagna region’s victims.

Leclerc raised a staggering $331,000 for his special helmet. Apart from Charles Leclerc, Arthur Leclerc was also seen donning the unique helmet which was similar to Herve Leclerc’s headgear.

Since then, the time has been great for both the Leclerc brothers. Infact Charles Leclerc has even secured an extended deal with Ferrari. However, there was an instance when the 26-year-old lied to his father about signing a Ferrari contract.

What lie did Charles Leclerc tell his father about Ferrari before entering F1?

For many of the aspiring Formula 1 drivers out there, Leclerc’s journey through the ranks has served as an inspiration. However, like several underprivileged racing drivers, Leclerc also had financial difficulties at the start of his career. Despite these obstacles, his family stood by him, providing unwavering support.

Leclerc’s mother put in a lot of overtime as a hairdresser to assist him financially. Although when the expenses skyrocketed and went beyond Pascale, Leclerc’s current team Ferrari entered the scene and helped the Leclerc family at this point.

With Ferrari’s support, the Monegasque prodigy began to display his incredible talent gradually, and this helped him win the 2016 GP3 Series and the 2017 F2 Series. However, by June 2017, when Leclerc was halfway through his maiden F2 season, his father’s health appeared to be deteriorating. As he watched his father’s health suffer, Leclerc told him something that Herve died believing.

The #16 driver revealed to his father that he had committed to a contract with an F1 team for the upcoming 2018 campaign. However, it’s interesting to note that he didn’t sign any contracts until June 2017.

Speaking about it to BBC Leclerc said, “It was a bit earlier than I had really signed, but in the end, I didn’t lie because I am here and now in Ferrari, which feels incredible.” At last, despite having lied to his father, Charles Leclerc signed a deal with Sauber in 2018, and then got his Ferrari promotion for 2019, making his lie a reality.

The humble beginnings of Charles Leclerc are barely a surprise to any of his fans. His mother, Pascale Leclerc, was a hairdresser in Monaco. She catered to many clients, and British former F1 driver David Coulthard was one of them. He, however, had no clue who she was. In an update on X by user ‘Ria,’ Coulthard recites the tale of his hairdresser in Monaco, who surprised him by walking around in the paddock one day.

Leclerc is also a regular ‘customer’ of his mother, as she is the one who cuts his hair. However, the appointments between them would rarely be as hilarious as between her and Coulthard. Turns out Coulthard would discuss his upcoming race weekend with Pascale Leclerc every time they met.

To his surprise, he once saw her roaming around in the paddock. He went up to her to ask what she was doing there. She replied she had a paddock pass, so she thought of wandering around. A confused Coulthard repeated his question. She replied, “Oh, my son is racing. It’s Charles Leclerc.”

Leclerc has now become a sensational driver on the paddock. The Tifosi see him as one of their own and expect him to bring glory back to Maranello. He, too, dreams of becoming a world champion with Ferrari before anything else.

It was his father, Herve Leclerc’s dream to see him become a champion F1 driver. However, he couldn’t witness his son drive an F1 car, as he passed away from an illness. Leclerc often credits his father for his F1 career.

From humble beginnings to immense success for Charles Leclerc and his family

Despite hailing from Monaco, which is looked at as a fairly rich country, Leclerc’s family did not have a lot of money. They struggled financially while Herve Leclerc tried to make it big in motorsport. He raced in Formula 3 in the 1980s and 90s. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc’s grandparents were in a much better financial state. Hence, they funded his karting career.

To use the funding to his full advantage, Leclerc came up with an absurd solution. He would play sick to avoid going to school. Once he achieved this, he would then ask his father to take him karting.

Leclerc has two more siblings – Lorenzo and Arthur Leclerc. Lorenzo is the eldest of the three and the only one of them who has no ties with racing. He is the Managing Director of Square Capital and the Co-Founder and CEO of All-TIME.

Meanwhile, Arthur is the youngest of the three. He is also a part of the Scuderia Ferrari team, acting as their development driver in 2024. Furthermore, he will also race for Scuderia Baldini 27 in GT3.

Ferrari dropped a bombshell when they announced the signing of Lewis Hamilton earlier this month, shocking the entire F1 community. Very few people associated with F1 new about the move beforehand, and even fewer outside of the sport. However, there was one man who knew it all and he is Fabio Quartararo, a Yamaha MotoGP rider. Quartararo revealed that Piero Ferrari hinted at him about the move in January.

The French MotoGP rider said as per Autosport,

It was strange because I was visiting Maranello a couple of days before the announcement and Piero Ferrari suggested it to me. But at that moment I didn’t know how to interpret it, I didn’t get it. I didn’t fall for it until it became official.”

Quartararo is a renowned F1 fan, and also has a great relationship with Piero Ferrari, the second and only living son of Ferrari’s founder Enzo. Ahead of the 2024 MotoGP pre-season testing, the former world champion champion took a tour of Maranello in January. Piero showed him around the Ferrari facility, which is when he likely told Quartararo about this potential move.

Initially, Quartararo did not want to believe Piero Ferrari and kept the information aside just like any other rumor. In the end, it turned out to be true, and Hamilton’s move to the iconic Italian stable caught everyone, including Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff off guard.

Wolff revealed in an interview that he only got to know about the information on January 31. Prior to this, he believed that his star driver would remain in Brackley even post 2025. Nonetheless, some people knew about the move before the news broke.

Who knew about Lewis Hamilton’s arrival in Ferrari?

Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were one of the first people to know about the transfer. While Leclerc’s stay in Ferrari was confirmed because of his contract extension, the same cannot be said about Sainz. Sainz was told that he would leave Ferrari at the end of the 2024 season to make way for Hamilton.

Apart from them, Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur and Hamilton’s brother Nicholas Hamilton also knew about the move before it became public. Among his fellow drivers, Pierre Gasly of Alpine admitted that he heard about the news. He also praised how the news was kept under wraps for such a long time.

When rumors of Hamilton leaving Mercedes for Ferrari first started gathering substance, many thought it was a hoax. After it became official, many started billing this as the most exciting driver transfer of all time.

Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris are two of the most popular names in the new generation of F1 drivers currently. Many regard both of them as potential world champions. While there have been critics for both Leclerc and Norris about their shortcomings against the behemoth that is Max Verstappen, both drivers have proven their mettle to some extent. After securing new contract extensions at Ferrari and McLaren respectively, this duo could be in a strong position to fight at the sharp end in the 2024 season. So, here is a comparison of how Leclerc and Norris stack up against each other.

In this analysis, we have compared both drivers from their junior careers, given they were in a similar crop of drivers (just a year apart) in the 2010s. Post that, a comparison of their F1 statistics so far is provided.

Formula 4

Charles Leclerc did not exactly compete in any Formula 4 series. After graduating from karting in 2013, the Monegasque raced in the 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 Alps series – in the junior category.

Leclerc finished 2nd in the juniors’ championships in Formula Renault. It was a decent result for his maiden season in car racing. He also competed in some races of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, getting three podiums.

On the other hand, Lando Norris competed in several Formula 4 championships, as many drivers simultaneously do at that level. He won the 2015 MSA Formula championship, which is the regional F4 series in England and Scotland.

In the Italian F4 championship that year, Norris could only finish 11th with Mucke Motorsport. Meanwhile, competing with the same team in ADAC F4, the Briton finished 8th and only secured one win across the two series. So, it was a somewhat rough F4 level for the McLaren driver.

Formula 3

Charles Leclerc immediately took the step up to Formula 3 in 2015. Given F3 is fiercely competitive, the #16 driver did a decent job to finish 4th in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. He got 4 wins, three poles, and thirteen podiums, and finished with 363.5 points in that season.

The highlight of that year for Leclerc was almost winning the Macau Grand Prix, finishing P2. The race in Macau is one of the most prestigious ones at the F3 level. Winning that race or doing well overall goes a long way for any young driver.

In 2016, Leclerc also competed in the GP3 series (predecessor of the current FIA F3 championship). Driving for the ART Grand Prix, the Monegasque took the GP3 title with three wins and 202 points.

Lando Norris, on the other hand, raced in several series in Formula 3. He won the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC, Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 as well as the Toyota Racing series in 2016. However, he had to strive hard in British F3, finishing only 8th and also only finishing 11th at the Macau Grand Prix.

2017 got him the glory in F3 finally. The Briton won the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with nine wins, eight poles, and 20 podiums overall. So, that was certainly better than Leclerc from a couple of years ago.

Formula 2

Charles Leclerc entered F2 in 2017 and dominated from the very beginning. Driving for Prema Racing, he won the title with seven wins, eight poles, and 10 podiums overall, scoring 282 points. From F2 standards, this was a very dominant season, given how close and tough F2 fields are due to the same spec machinery.

On the other hand, Lando Norris competed in F2 a year later and faced a lot of competition. Since he was fighting his fellow Briton George Russell, it was always going to be a steep task for the McLaren man to win F2 in 2018.

Along with Alex Albon, Norris could not stop the juggernaut season of Russell, as the Mercedes prodigy won the championship by a whopping margin. Norris could only score 219 points to George’s 287, getting a victory and pole each, with nine podiums. So at the F2 level, Leclerc certainly dominated more than Norris.

Charles Leclerc v Lando Norris – Who has done better in F1 so far?

Charles Leclerc debuted in F1 a year earlier than Lando Norris in 2018. However, it was a classic rookie year for the Monegasque as he had to strive hard in the lower midfield team that was Alfa Romeo-Sauber.

Meanwhile, Norris got his big break in F1 with McLaren, which was much better placed in the F1 standings in 2019. Still, given the Briton had a lot to learn, it was a year of grooming for him.

For starters, here is a comparison of their F1 statistics so far:

Race Starts Wins Poles Podiums Points

Charles Leclerc

123

5 23 30 1074

Lando Norris

104

0 1 13 633

Certainly, Leclerc beats Norris in the objective statistical comparison. However, if we dive deep into the detailed aspects of their performances with Ferrari and McLaren respectively, their performances have a lot of positives and negatives to consider for a fair comparison.

Firstly, the competitiveness of Ferrari and McLaren is crucial to understand why Norris has not been able to claim as many podiums or poles and wins as the Monegasque. The #4 driver rarely had the car from the Woking team to fight for wins and poles consistently.

In 2021, he squandered away a golden opportunity to win a race in Russia. Before that fateful result in Sochi, the 24-year-old had to settle for P2 in Monza, behind his then-teammate Daniel Ricciardo. So, all in all, Norris has not been in the position to win a race often. His only pole position also came in Sochi itself.

Meanwhile, Leclerc straightaway got a race-winning car in his sophomore season in F1 when he moved to Ferrari in 2019. That season, the 26-year-old won two races in Belgium and Italy.

However, since then, Leclerc has gained a reputation for his failure to convert his poles to wins. While the Monegasque is a superb qualifier, and his 23 poles are evidence of that, he has often made mistakes to lose out on race wins.

For Norris, it was only in 2023, when McLaren regained their form towards the latter half of the season. This put him front and center into podium contention and the Briton maximized those chances. He scored seven podiums last year, doubling his podium tally to 13.

So, among these two potential future champions, it is difficult to say who has been better. Through the junior career, Leclerc certainly had more success at the F2 level, while Norris was marginally better in F3 and F4.

Coming to F1, an objective comparison of stats gives the Monegasque the edge. However, Norris has capitalized on more of his opportunities than Leclerc.

Lewis Hamilton is all set to make a big money move to Ferrari in 2025, ending a decade long association with Mercedes. For Ferrari it is definitely a gain, not just because of the fact that Hamilton is one of the best ever, but because of his huge off-track appeal. Commercially, Ferrari is looking to boos the sales of their $110 merchandise with the arrival of Hamilton.

Martin Brundle sat with Matt Baker, Simon Lazenby, and Rachel Brookes in Sky Sports F1’s coverage of the off-season drama. There, the experts spoke about how Hamilton’s inclusion in the team is going to be massive for Ferrari on the business front.

They also added that the British driver will bring a sea of Tifosi in Ferrari t-shirts at Silverstone, Hamilton’s home race. These Ferrari t-shirts cost $110, and the Italian outfit will surely sell a lot more of these in UK, now that their national hero will don their colors.

Brundle said, “When we get to Silverstone 2025, will there be a sea of Red t-shirts in the grandstand? I think there will.”

Finding it hard to keep the excitement away, Brookes had a suggestion. He wants 2024 to be over as soon as possible. The thought of Hamilton in a Ferrari going up against George Russell in his Mercedes in front of the home Silverstone crowd is extremely appealing.

2024 will be Hamilton‘s last season with Mercedes. Leclerc is already a very popular driver in Italy and suiting up with Hamilton will boost Ferrari’s popularity tenfold.

Ferrari’s merchandise sales will likely will skyrocket from 2025 onwards. When Hamilton’s move to Ferrari became official, the latter’s valuation sky-rocketed too, to $7 billion.

Lewis Hamilton’s departure opens various opportunities

Ahead of 2025, a lot of drivers are expected to move around to other teams. This is because Hamilton’s departure opens up a spot at Mercedes, and they will look to find a suitable replacement.

Sky Sports’ panel also added that the sport will enter a fascinating era because of these changes. Verstappen going wheel-to-wheel in his Red Bull against Hamilton’s Ferrari would be a dream for many fans. On the other hand, Fernando Alonso is widely expected to be a strong candidate to replace Hamilton, and he would want to take a step forward, compete for wins and potentially the title.

A lot of drivers have their names associated with Mercedes including Alonso, whose contract expires at the end of the season. So far, Alonso insists that he wants to stay with Aston Martin. However, he hasn’t renewed a deal yet. Whether Alonso signs with the Silver Arrows, or whether Toto Wolff decides to go for a younger option remains to be seen.
