At the age of 76, one of Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s many purposes is to help his fellow fitness enthusiasts stay fit and healthy. An inspiration to many, the former bodybuilder invariably shares tips on how to improve health and diet routines through his newsletter.

This time around, Arnold has written an interesting section in his newsletter, which is the workout of the week. Through this, he suggests his followers use these workout routines to witness changes in their bodies. Arnold created this full-body workout to push your body to its absolute limit.

One might think full-body training isn’t worth it. However, Arnold Schwarzenegger proves it wrong and states that these types of workouts are more challenging than any others that you must have tried.

Every muscle group in your body will benefit from Arnold’s workout plan. To start the Arnold-recommended workout, all you need is a barbell or a pair of dumbbells. The workout is as mentioned below.

Barbell or dumbbell clean and press:

Grab a moderate set of dumbbell weights or a barbell with weights that you can accommodate. With a tight core, stand up and pull the weights into a front rack position. Bend and lock your knees, and then stand straight. After which, you pull the weight upward. Allow your shoulders to lock the weight out above your head. Reverse this movement and complete 4 sets with 5 reps each.

Barbell or dumbbell bent-over row:

Hinge your hips with a flattened back, allowing your hips to go behind your heels. For the weights you use (dumbbell or barbell), the dumbbell should be by your thighs, or the barbell should be hanging in front. Ensure to keep the weights away from your ears while doing it. Once you’re set, lower the weight and do 8 sets with 6–8 reps.

Barbell or dumbbell squat:

Lift the dumbbells at your collarbone with your palms facing inward. Send your hips back, with your chest upright, into a squat position. Once you are in position, push through with your heels back to standing and repeat the motion. Arnold suggests completing 3 sets with reps of 10, 8, and 6.

Barbell or dumbbell chest press:

A workout familiar to all. In this exercise, you need to lie on a flat bench with the dumbbells or barbell up above your chest with your arms firmly straight. With the elbows below your shoulder, slowly lower the weights towards your chest. Before pushing the weights away, feel a stretch across your chest. Repeat this for 3 sets with 10, 8, and 6 reps, respectively.

Straight-leg barbell or dumbbell deadlift:

Use a pair of dumbbells in either hand or a barbell by holding it in front. Bend your hips and your back until your torso reaches horizontal or just above. Keep your knees straight or slightly bent if you lose balance.

Squeeze your lats and stand straight, pushing the ground with your feet. Take deep breaths, reverse the movement, and continue the exercise for 3 sets with 10 reps each.

Barbell curls:

Begin this exercise with the barbell hanging in front. Your palm should be kept facing upwards, while your elbows should be tightly close to your waist. Bring the barbell up. Ensure to keep your shoulders perfectly back and upright. Complete this workout for 3 sets with 10 reps each for maximum output.

Lying triceps extension: 3 x 10

Set the dumbells above your chest by lying on a flat bench. Allow the weights to dip behind your head and bend your elbows. Ensure your elbows don’t move, and reverse this movement. A set of 3 with 10 reps is what Arnold suggests for this workout.

Seated calf raises: 4 x 10

Sit on a bench, and keep a weight plate on the floor to rest your toes on it. After this, place a dumbbell on your knees and lift your heel as high as you can. Take a pause, and then lower your heels. Complete this last workout with 4 sets of 10 reps each.

You might notice changes right away once you finish Arnold’s suggested entire full-body workout. Even though the entire workout might be tiring, one could achieve greater results in less time.

Arnold Schwarzenegger let’s in on the secret to maintaining a healthy life

During the podcast ‘Pardon My Take,’ the Austrian Oak took a trip down memory lane and discussed the good old days. With his debut in bodybuilding and initial years gaining momentum as an icon, he had a lot of strength to achieve it all.

Furthermore, Arnold Schwarzenegger came into the world of fitness through powerlifting at 15, joined the Austrian powerlifting team, and soon switched to bodybuilding at the tender age of 19. Grinding in the gym with intense exercises and going for long runs at the beach for cardio, he had a lot of fun preparing for his dream.

Nonetheless, he admits that consistent exercise is the key to maintaining a quality life. While it helps to maintain a calm mind, body, and soul, it also helps to boost cognitive health.

Throughout his life, Arnold Schwarzenegger has talked about how fitness is for everyone. One’s age, gender, race, weight, or disabilities didn’t matter as long as one had the zeal to be fit. And a recent incident inspired him to spread the message to his village.

In his newsletter, Schwarzenegger met popular bodybuilder Kyle Landi, who has Down syndrome and works on spreading awareness about it. His drive to exercise and work towards his goals set forth a major concern that Schwarzenegger highlighted. Are gyms inclusive enough?

Landi’s goal is to inspire everyone to stop accepting the limitations society tries to hammer in. This drove Schwarzenegger to bring up a crucial aspect of fitness. Not all gyms are inclusive, and since the former bodybuilder has been on a mission to spread the message that ‘fitness is for everyone,’ he took it as an opportunity to educate his village.

Arnold Schwarzenegger raved about how Landi was a joy to train and how, despite challenges, both had a great time. Incidents like these inspire Schwarzenegger to make his event, the Arnold Sports Festival, as inclusive as possible.

A post shared by Kyle Landi (@greenrangerkyle)

“Young, old, rich, poor, black, white, straight, gay, man, woman, “disabled,” able-bodied — and anything in between; no matter who you are and what your situation might be, fitness is for you.”

With specially-abled athletes, Schwarzenegger observed that all they needed was a strong motivating force to move forward. They didn’t need sympathy, as long as the fitness they sought gave them the power to overcome obstacles. Exercises and workout mediums had no boundaries and only one purpose: to keep the person trained regardless of their quirks and challenges.

“We don’t have an excuse. They aren’t moping around, so there isn’t a challenge big enough to keep us from getting off the couch and…focusing on our fitness and moving forward every day.”

Here’s where Schwarzenegger asked his village to step in. Pointing out how many of his readers owned gyms and wanted some sort of promotion in his newsletter, he asked the community to make gyms and other such places more accessible. It might take some time and effort, but the payout would be worth it.

“I’ll keep fighting to make fitness for everyone every day of my life. But I can’t lift this weight alone. I need all of you.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger once rooted for his favorite heroes at the Arnold Sports Festival

The star’s respect for specially-abled athletes has had a history of its own. From the Special Olympics during his political career to a dedicated segment at his own sports festival, he has always had the same message. Fitness will always be for everyone, as long as they have the will to move forward.

In a resurfaced video from an older edition of the Arnold Sports Festival, the icon talked about how his favorite heroes were Derick Carver, Miles Taylor, and Garrett Fort—three specially-abled athletes who left jaws on the floor with their strength and passion for fitness. And now he aims to open the gateways to more such heroes.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is arguably one of the fittest bodybuilders in the bodybuilding community at the age of 76. Though his Mr. Olympia days are way behind, the former bodybuilding icon still takes his health and fitness seriously. To stay fit and maintain an incredible shape, what is his secret?

Schwarzenegger is not to miss out on hitting the gym regularly, and apart from Arnold, maintains a well-balanced diet. This is his secret sauce to staying fit and healthy. He consumes similar meals on most days, spreading his protein intake throughout breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

However, in his recent newsletter, the Austrian Oak revealed one nutritional food that will help improve your heart and brain health. While there is always a discussion on good and bad foods, there are some foods that have more nutritional benefits than others. This one food item Arnold suggests everyone consume is blueberries.

“If you want to boost your brain and heart health, adding more blueberries to your diet could go a long way.”

According to recent research, consuming blueberries regularly in your diet could lower your risk of cardiovascular disease and type-2 diabetes. It also protects your brain from neurodegeneration, boosts short-term memory, and supports weight loss and maintenance.

“As you age, a recent study suggests blueberries protect the health of your blood vessels, which means improved blood flow, less calcification, a healthier heart, and a lower likelihood of suffering a heart attack.”

Therefore, Arnold suggests that eating at least one and a half cups of blueberries a day will help you achieve multiple benefits. The best way to consume your blueberries is in the form of a smoothie, a side dish, or even add them to your yogurt. You can also follow Arnold’s routine and add them to your oatmeal bowl.

The former Californian governor once mentioned how including more fruits and vegetables in your diet is the best way forward.

Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals how transfer effect can work well for your workout

Grinding at the gym also means your gut craving for healthy food. Arnold Schwarzenegger shared that one cannot do away with nutrition when they have a robust fitness plan in place and have suggestions on have to enhance their relationship.

In an edition of his newsletter, he shed light on the wholesomeness fruits and vegetables add to a balanced plate. While it may be difficult to maintain this daily for people pressing for time, he offers a solution to that as well. The key is not to focus on too many things at once.

Working on putting together a perfect nutrition and fitness plan can be overwhelming and he suggests focusing on one first. In his words, doing two things together might not be better than one, and backed this with a study.

The findings showed working out helped develop healthy eating habits and how this means improving one thing in life can positively impact other aspects. This psychological effect is called The Transfer Effect. He recommended to start small, like. 30-minute walk. Increasing the pace of this will naturally help to change one’s appetite as well.

Even at the age of 76, former bodybuilding champion, Arnold Schwarzenegger does not depend on social media to read his daily news. Knowing the effects social media can have on one’s health, Arnold gets his news by reading two newspapers in the morning and watching the local TV news.

Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn’t feel it is necessary to be updated by the hour, and hence he doesn’t use much social media.
In his newsletter, he writes about the same, and the effects social media usage brings upon one’s health. The Austrian Oak, who looks out for his fellow village members, shares a warning through his recent newsletter on continuous social media use.

Arnold writes that it is a no-brainer to everyone that social media can predominantly make you less productive, and less positive, and decrease your happiness and even your strength. Therefore, in recent studies, researchers suggest that to improve your health and longevity, scroll less than usual.

“New research suggests that social media use could contribute to chronic inflammation.”

We all require inflammation, despite being considered negative. It protects our body from various illnesses or diseases and it is a natural protective reaction to stress and damage.

However, Chronic inflammation is distinct from that. If one ever experiences chronic inflammation, this means your body begins to break down and you become overstressed.

“Chronic inflammation is tied to high stress, loneliness, poor diet, and a lack of exercise or sleep. And it is linked to cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and mental health conditions.”

When previous studies were conducted researchers suggested that social media led to short-term increases in inflammation. It was not considered much of a health concern back then, according to Arnold. However, studies that were recently conducted prove differently.

Arnold cites that in the new research conducted, a screen time app was used to measure how much time people spent on social media. They then took blood samples to assess the C-reactive protein, of these individuals, which is a common measure of inflammation.

“The researchers found that those who spent the most time on social media had the highest levels of inflammation after five weeks.”

Therefore, spending extra hours on social media is not ideal for you and it increases your inflammation levels. This could lead to various health problems for individuals in their later years. Arnold, who understands that lessening the usage of social media isn’t easy, hence shares a few tips on how to start small.

  • Begin your day regularly without social media.
  • Before you go to sleep or enter your bedroom, cut off from it.
  • Don’t use social media before you head for your workout.

In conclusion, Arnold mentions that no one needs to get off social media completely. The idea is to use less of it to improve your health and you could witness it benefiting your health further on.

Dimly lit rooms aren’t the safest place to get sleep, Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals why

Arnold, ensures his fellow followers are updated about many health tips shared through his newsletter. He advises his village members to never sleep in a dimly lit room, to avoid heart-related issues.

This can lead to an increase in insulin levels and damage to our hearts without our awareness. Researchers have shared that nightlight can affect our circadian rhythms and cause health distress.

This circadian rhythm misalignment can develop many cardiovascular, metabolic, and psychological problems. Other studies also showed how people who slept in these types of rooms had higher heart rates. Hence, Arnold recommends bringing down the blue light hours before sleep and keeping the room as dark as you can.

At 76, Arnold Schwarzenegger set an example for many on how age was just a number. Still going strong with his silver screen presence, the star released his hit Netflix series ‘FUBAR’ last year. Such was his enigmatic personality that his co-stars, including comedian Fortune Feimster, reminisce about the fun times.

In a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Feimster spoke about her new special and recalled what working with Schwarzenegger was like. Although they might seem poles apart in profession and personality, the two stars got along really well. The Terminator hero even took her and fellow comedian Bert Kreischer to work out.

One of Feimster’s core memories was working out with the former Mr. Olympia. She told Kimmel how she was the one who expressed the desire to exercise with Schwarzenegger, and the veteran was game immediately. He took both her and Kreischer to Gold’s Gym.

Amidst all the fun that the trio had, the comedian recalled how Schwarzenegger lifted heavy weights despite his age. It turns out that the fitness enthusiast’s experience as a powerlifter is still paying off well in old age.

“I showed up and, you know, he would do these like big weights.”

However, Feimster couldn’t flaunt her strength as her co-star did. While Schwarzenegger lifted and worked with heavy weights, he coached the comedian with lighter ones. This did not sit well with her.

“He would put on like 5 lbs. I’m like, ‘I can do more than that’… I was like, ‘I’m not a dainty lady!'”

Eventually, the comedian revealed that she might convince the star to let her do more weights. Since the trio was preparing for the series’ second season, another workout session with the Austrian Oak was in tow. However, given how both Feimster and Kreischer felt the pump in their first-ever session, the next time might bring in more sweat.

Arnold Schwarzenegger had put up a hilarious glimpse of their workout on his socials

When the Terminator actor wasn’t acting, sharing fitness advice, or involved in philanthropy, he was busy encouraging people to work out. So when his FUBAR co-stars showed up at the Gold’s Gym, things got intense quickly.

“I’ve got an Austrian yelling at me!”

Feimster exclaimed as Schwarzenegger pushed her to finish twelve reps on the lat pulldown machine. Even the five-pound weight proved to work up a storm since the comedian seemed happily exhausted by the end of the session.

When someone catches a cold, they first reach for a vitamin C supplement or orange juice. People do that thinking it helps cure our colds and boost the immune system. However, is that true? Does vitamin C cure colds? To give a better perception of this, none other than 7-time Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals his take in his newsletter.

In his recent newsletter, Arnold writes about whether vitamin C kills colds or not. Over the years, vitamin C has been the most prevalent way to get rid of a cold when one catches it. However, what Arnold Schwarzenegger suggests is that if you want to fight against it, don’t wait until you fall sick; take it beforehand.

Arnold cites a research study that identified that there is no use in consuming vitamin C after a cold has already hit you, as it won’t be effective. This does not mean you should completely keep away from vitamin C. It’s best to take it before you fall sick.

“New research suggests that taking vitamin C preventatively could reduce the severity of your cold and make your symptoms less miserable.”

In the study conducted, participants consumed vitamin C before falling ill and continued the supplement during their illness. Comparatively, those who took vitamin C noticed milder symptoms by 66 percent.

However, Arnold writes that though the symptoms might reduce, it will not affect the duration of the cold. Once an individual takes a vitamin C pill, our immune cells attack the virus cells, which leads to inflammation and damage. The reason is that vitamin C is an important antioxidant; it may hamper this collateral damage, reducing symptom severity.

Therefore, Arnold suggests a few ways for his fellow village members to improve vitamin C in their bodies. The consumption of oranges, pineapple, kiwi, bell peppers, strawberries, papaya, and grapefruit in your diet will help improve your vitamin C levels in the body. Moreover, the Austrian Oak was not the only one who discussed vitamin C. Neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Huberman also shed light on this once.

Does vitamin C help stave off colds and flu? Dr. Andrew Huberman shares his insight, supporting Arnold Schwarzenegger’s thoughts

A healthy immune system is integral to fitness and overall health. Vitamin C is often touted as an immune booster that helps cure colds and flu. However, Dr. Andrew Huberman squashed this age-old myth and explained it in detail.

Famous neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Huberman discussed the topic in his podcast, “How to Prevent and Treat Colds and Flu.” Allergies, infections, and fatigue can lead to colds and flu, but is Vitamin C the way to mitigate it? While vitamin C is an integral nutrient and ally for healthy immune function, it may not help many people.

Research showed that individuals find the most effective way to bring down a cold is to make it last for a brief time or use vitamin C to prevent it. But vitamin C doesn’t have any effect on a cold once you are already ill. Adding to the insight, he stated that individuals who aren’t familiar with taking heavy dosages of vitamin C can experience health distress if they do so.

Citrus fruits like lemon, orange, and berries contain high levels of Vitamin C. However, Huberman adds that it’s not an efficacious investment for staving off colds and enhancing the immune system.

Stay active, stay fit. This is the motto that Arnold Schwarzenegger suggests his fellow village members and fitness enthusiasts follow. As a living example of staying healthy, Arnold recommends multiple ways to do it with ease.

The Austrian Oak, through his newsletter, has once again shared valuable knowledge about foods that could be associated with depression. While there are various types of foods we consume regularly, we do not have to worry about everything we eat. However, according to Arnold, one particular food item can cause a lot of damage when consumed regularly.

Arnold notes that ultra-processed foods are very harmful if consumed regularly. It contains hydrogenated oils, chemical additives, artificial sweeteners, emulsifiers, and preservatives, which are extremely harmful to the body.

“Recent research suggests the more often you eat ultra-processed foods, the more likely you are to report feeling depressed or anxious.”

In addition, Arnold adds that just because you’re consuming this type of food, it can make you feel depressed. As per the research conducted, it is observational. What researchers have found is that individuals who are already feeling depressed and anxious tend to eat more ultra-processed foods than normal people.

“Another study of more than 11,000 people found that cognitive decline increased an additional 28 percent in people who consume more than 20 percent of their calories from ultra-processed foods.”

However, Arnold comes up with a suggestion. He states that even if you consume a lesser quantity of unhealthy food, it is okay as long as you’re eating nutritious food most of the time. While citing research, Arnold stated that people who ate ultra-processed foods in moderation but also maintained healthy food styles showed no relation to anxiety, depression, or cognitive decline.

Therefore, Arnold asks people to consume more whole grains, green vegetables, nuts, fish, and berries. This can prevent depression or an unhealthy lifestyle. So, the primary point is to ensure one eats healthily more often, even if one consumes a small amount of ultra-processed food at times.

Arnold Schwarzenegger suggests to consume certain foods that help lose more calories

In a previous edition of his newsletter, Arnold shared some tips on calories. He wrote about how including certain foods can help one shed weight. Certain studies suggest that, based on the type of food you eat, it helps you absorb fewer calories and lose weight. Studies also state that not all calories are equal.

Heavily processed foods are digested easily and faster. Therefore, calories are more likely to stick in your body and increase weight. Organic or less processed foods take time to break down. Schwarzenegger thus points out that people who consume these with more fiber still have an intake of the same amount of calories. But their bodies absorb fewer calories.

In conclusion, he suggests that consuming fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, and oats is good for reducing weight and living a more healthy life.

A mirror and good lighting are often a bodybuilder’s greatest friends. Therefore, Baena used it to its full potential. As is the usual case with his gym content, many compared him to his father, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“Your father should have had 10 more of you…”

Others complimented his physique, calling it a class apart.

“Lighting or no lighting. It’s the best natural Aesthetic classic body.”

“Healthy looking body building…I hope the trend continues.”

“Action movie physique right here.”

“They hit even better with no lighting Joe lol!”

Joe Baena’s workout video with friends once reminded everyone of Arnold Schwarzenegger

Recently, Baena filmed a parody video in his gym, along with his friends, that proved to be entertaining for fans. The video was filmed to look like a teaser for a TV show. Each posed for the camera, showing off their gains as their names appeared on the screen. Upon seeing this, fans went berserk over the brilliant editing and the jacked men.

As he showed off his physique, many were reminded of Schwarzenegger’s prime. The young Austrian had a lot going on for him back then, with numerous titles and achievements. With his son now following in his footsteps, everyone points out their shared resemblance almost every time.

Throughout the history of the sport, many bodybuilders graced the timeline with their chiseled physiques, setting a blueprint for aspirants. Icons like Arnold Schwarzenegger have always inspired fitness enthusiasts to build a body like his. And he never missed an opportunity to flaunt it.

From running shirtless across his town to casually working out on the beach, Schwarzenegger was the heartthrob in the 80s for a reason. His jaw-droppingly stunning physique with defined muscles and incredible conditioning won him seven Mr. Olympia titles. And a recent throwback was testimony to this.

In a new post on his social media handles, Schwarzenegger revealed some of his majestic-looking pictures from back in the day. The photographs showed him working out at Gold’s Gym, getting a good pump. He sported sunglasses that oddly resembled his Terminator avatar while standing topless, showing off his gains.

“There is nothing like the sunshine and a good pump!”

Schwarzenegger was captured performing raises with some dumbbells, pull-ups, and bench presses outdoors. His glasses were proof of how sunny the day was, and onlookers were caught gawking at the icon’s strength.

This was also a representation of how Schwarzenegger charmed everyone around him, especially during his prime. His experience as a powerlifter before bodybuilding bestowed upon him immense strength that he often used for showmanship. The series of pictures from his golden days carried a proposal in the caption.

“Sign up for the Pump Club at the link in my bio to learn how to do these exercises correctly and hear some stories about the old days that I’ve never told anyone before!”

Photoshoots aside, Schwarzenegger had made his name as an innovator who considered the gym to be his laboratory. It was during this time that the Arnold Press was born, and the icon surprised everyone with his extreme squats and deadlifts.

Fans express their awe for Arnold Schwarzenegger and his physique

Schwarzenegger’s series of pictures not only showed glimpses of his prime but also how conditioned his physique was at the time. These pictures left fans and fellow fitness enthusiasts in awe of the star. One declared:

“Best chest in bodybuilding history.”

While others raved about his looks and physique:

“God of bodybuilding.”

“I need this sunglasses.”

“Arnold that Photo is exactly like I remember you ! Brings back great Memories!”

Schwarzenegger truly had a chokehold on aspiring fitness enthusiasts back then with his physique and now with his newsletter. Sharing experiences and advice, the star makes sure that health and fitness remain a subject everyone can indulge in.

In the glittering arena of Super Bowl commercials, where creativity and star power collide, the ads become as anticipated as the game itself. Among the array of commercials that graced the screens during Super Bowl LVIII, a few stood out, not just for their humor and wit but also for the sheer star power they wielded. While Tom Brady and Ben Affleck’s Dunkin’ Donuts commercial caught many an eye with its unique blend of charm and humor, it was Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s State Farm ad that emerged as the champion of the night.

According to an AdWeek report, among the commercials, State Farm’s “Like a Good Neighbaaa” Ad, starring ‘Terminator’ actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, stole the show. Portraying his iconic action-hero persona as Agent State Farm, Schwarzenegger hilariously struggles to pronounce the word “neighbor” because of his thick Austrian accent. The commercial’s humor peaks as the director, seeking a solution, brings in Danny DeVito, reuniting the duo known for their roles in “Twins” and “Junior.”

Kristyn Cook, State Farm’s chief marketing officer, remarked on the significance of leveraging the Super Bowl’s massive audience, aiming to make their iconic slogan even more famous. This creative endeavor certainly paid off, as the USA Today Ad Meter, with over 160,000 panelists, rated the ad as the favorite of the 2024 Super Bowl, scoring an average rating of 6.68 and topping the charts above all others.

Not far behind, Dunkin’s commercial, directed by and starring Ben Affleck, garnered significant attention, placing second with a score of 6.52. The ad featured a whimsical narrative with Affleck forming a boy band, the “DunKings,” alongside Tom Brady and Matt Damon, aiming to feature on Jennifer Lopez’s album. This blend of celebrity cameos and comedic antics made Dunkin’s commercial a memorable one, despite not clinching the top spot.

The High Stakes of Super Bowl Advertising

With the Super Bowl being the zenith of American sports, the commercials aired during its broadcast are in a league of their own. This year, advertisers shelled out a jaw-dropping $7 million for a mere 30-second slot, a testament to the Super Bowl’s unparalleled viewership, which hovers around 115 million.

The price tag, steep as it may seem, is justified by the almost universal attention the ads receive, with a whopping 98.8% of viewers staying glued to their screens during the commercial breaks. The Super Bowl’s status as the ultimate platform for advertisers and performers was very well displayed in this year’s halftime show featuring Usher.

The Super Bowl ads this year really showed us how getting creative, throwing in some celeb power, and mixing in a bunch of laughs can win over the crowd. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s spot was an absolute standout. It was all about nailing the idea in a way that clicked with everyone watching; turning it into the Ad everyone wouldn’t be able to stop talking about.
