Ever since Jannik Sinner won the Australian Open 2024, the Italian star can’t get enough attention from the press. In his most recent interview with Vanity Fair, the 22-year-old revealed the only gift he gave himself. It’s a car that most would dream of having. And yet it’s not one of the topmost expensive ones like the Maserati, Lamborghini, or Ferrari. Sinner was clear on pointing that out. Here’s how much his car cost and what’s his relationship with money.

During the Vanity Fair interview, Jannik Sinner was asked a series of questions. Here’s one that made him reveal his fondness for cars.

Owing to this respect of money, Sinner hasn’t showered himself with gifts. Instead, he bought just one thing – an Alfa Romeo Stelvio Q4 Veloce. Alfa Romeo is an Italian luxury car manufacturer based out of Milan, and Sinner chose a model from a company in his native country. Many reviewers on YouTube have compared this model to the BMW B58 and the BMW X3, both not as good as this Alfa Romeo model. This model has a 280-horsepower best-in-class, 0.15 second torque disbursement time Q4 AWD, and 5.5 seconds to go from 0-60 km/h, also best-in-class.

The price of the 2024 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Q4 Veloce in the US market starts from $47,545 and goes up to $59,245 depending on the customization and options. In UK, it costs similar, as it ranges from £45,595 to £56,396. The model that Jannik Sinner drives though, costs a little bit higher than usual. Its price ranges somewhere between $57,000 and $76,000. Sinner drove this around, after the 2023 ATP Finals in Turin.

At age 22, with a Grand Slam already under his belt, Jannik Sinner has accumulated $$19,579,723 in prize money earnings from his tennis career. His net worth is estimated to be somewhere around $15 million. For the Australian Open win, Sinner took home $2,130,975 in prize money.

How does Jannik Sinner’s choice of car somehow contradict his passion for F1?

Jannik Sinner has been a friend of F1, officially for a few years now. He is a huge admirer and passionate follower of the sport. He also loves Lewis Hamilton, someone who he admires so much that he wishes to swap lives with. Hamilton raced for the Mercedes team for more than a decade. However, with his recent move to Ferrari, Sinner is likely to follow him even more since the tennis star is a Ferrari fan too. However, despite that association with Ferrari and that he visited the Ferrari museum once, Sinner would always pick Alfa Romeo over it. As a matter of fact, he will always pick Alfa Romeo over any other car for personal use.

There is something about that Italian luxury brand that he finds a deep association with. Sinner enjoys watching F1 a lot in his spare time, and in the future, he will get to work with them a lot. With Hamilton there from now onwards, Sinner can’t wait for this association to start.

Jannik Sinner is the main man in men’s tennis right now. The Italian star won his first-ever Grand Slam title at the Australian Open 2024 and is now unbeaten in his last 15 matches. The 22-year-old followed up on his Grand Slam win, by claiming the Rotterdam Open title. However, it seems that after the win, he has courted controversy and this is due to the way he looks at money.

Jannik Sinner has made $19,579,723 in prize money so far in his career. Also, this includes the $2,536,288 he has made in 2024 alone. Along with earning money on tennis court, the Italian is also sought after in the brand market. Sinner has already signed multi-million dollar deals with Nike, Gucci and Alfa Romeo. Recently, the Italian was talking about his respect for money and how he chooses to spend his hard earned money wisely.

Talking to Vanity Fair, Jannik Sinner admitted that he always checks the price of a product before buying anything. The Italian clarified that he is not stingy but he respects money a lot. The 22-year-old admitted that he works for the money and does not like to waste it. Sinner further added that he only has one car, the Alfa Romeo and has not yet brought any other car.

“Before buying something I always look at the price, always. If I go to a restaurant and the pasta with meat sauce costs much more than the one with tomato sauce, I take the one with tomato sauce. Not because I’m stingy, but because I respect money. The only gift I gave myself is the car (Alfa Romeo Stelvio Q4 Veloce). It’s a nice car, but you don’t think of a Ferrari, a Lamborghini or a Maserati.”

Fans troll Jannik Sinner after his money comments and remind the Italian of his Gucci contract

Jannik Sinner’s comments about not spending money has not gone down well with some tennis fans. The tennis community on X had a field day trolling the Italian for his multi-million dollar Gucci contract. The 22-year-old earns a lot of money from his contract with Gucci and some fans felt that Sinner was being a hypocrite.

Many fans trolled the Italian while some mentioned that his brand Gucci will not share Sinner’s message of not spending money. Jannik Sinner is often spotted wearing Gucci as part of his sponsorship deal.

While Jannik Sinner is in the form of his life, he will try to avoid these outside distractions. The Italian has a matured head on his shoulder and will look to continue his good form. Jannik Sinner is making big strides in his attempt to be the best player in the world.

After the Australian Open, top players flew to different parts of the world to compete in various tournaments. This has caused some upheaval in the ATP rankings after Jannik Sinner extended his unbeaten streak in 2024 to 12 wins in a row. His win in Rotterdam Open made him arguably the biggest gainer in the latest update. In the latest ATP rankings, Jannik Sinner will move to a career best position of number 3, overtaking Daniil Medvedev.

Daniil Medvedev skipped Rotterdam as well as the Qatar Open 2024 due to a foot injury he sustained after losing in a 5-setter Australian Open final against Jannik Sinner. In a major cause of concern for the Russian, he could lose more points since he is also a defending champion at the ATP 500 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and his participation is not yet 100 percent confirmed. After losing 500 points, Medvedev will also have 1000 points to defend at the Miami Masters 2024, as that title was won by him as well last year, making Jannik Sinner the favorite to remain in the top 3 for a month at least.

The Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz lost 150 points in the latest update after he failed to defend his ATP 250 title at Buenos Aires, in his first tournament since the Australian Open. Alcaraz lost in the semifinals to the Czech unseeded player, Nicolas Jarry. Although Alcaraz has still retained the No.2 ranking, he will have to perform well at the Rio Open and additionally, has more points to lose than Sinner in Indian Wells and Miami.

Meanwhile, World No.1 Novak Djokovic decided to take a break and come back for the Indian Wells tournament. But his incredible 2023 season and making it to the semifinals of the Australian Open, has ensured that Djokovic is leading by 600 points to retain the No.1 ranking.

Stefanos Tsitsipas drops out of the Top 10, in latest ATP rankings

Alex de Minaur went past Taylor Fritz to become his career-best No.9 in the rankings. If Fritz  However, the biggest shock in the ATP rankings was Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek star dropped out of the Top 10 rankings for the first time in five years, and finds himself ranked at number 11 in the world. This will also be the first time ever that there will be no player with a ‘single backhand’ in the top 10 of ATP rankings.

The Finnish star Emil Ruusuvuori has had the biggest gain as he moved 12 places to a world ranking of 43. The Fin, impressed during his quarterfinal run at the Rotterdam Open and his performances now reflect on his ranking. India’s Sumit Nagal, jumped 23 places to enter the Top 100 of the ATP rankings for the first time. Nagal is currently ranked as the world number 98. Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal, who is still to complete a comeback, stays at 646 in the ATP rankings.

Jannik Sinner lifted the Rotterdam Open title right after winning the 2024 Australian Open, his first Grand Slam. This is a feat that even Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal did not achieve. The Big 3, and more illustrious players, did not triumph in the first tournament they participated in after their maiden Grand Slam victory.

Sinner has elevated his game to elite levels over the last few months. He began his 2024 season with the Australian Open, going on to lift the trophy for his first Majors title. He beat three top 5 players, Andrey Rublev, Djokovic, and Daniil Medvedev, in the last three matches of the tournament.

After Melbourne, Jannik Sinner featured in the Rotterdam Open. He played incredible tennis in the ATP 500 event, dropping only one set. He beat Alex de Minaur in the final to clinch the title, the 12th of this career. Apart from a new career-high rank of World No.3, this victory also meant he eclipsed the Big 3 and every other Grand Slam champion since 2001 by achieving a rare record.

Sinner won the first tournament he participated in after securing the maiden Grand Slam title of his career. The last person to achieve this feat was Lleyton Hewitt in 2001. The Aussie won the Japan Open right after bagging his first Majors trophy at the US Open.

Roger Federer and Gaston Gaudio came closest, finishing runner-up in the next event after their first Grand Slam titles. The list of Majors champions since 2001 includes stars like Andy Roddick, Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and more. Each one of them has failed to do well in the next tournament after winning their first Grand Slam trophy.

Sinner broke the streak by winning the 2024 Rotterdam Open, outdoing these legendary names. This bodes very well for the Italian, who is tipped to match, if not surpass, these icons and establish a solid legacy.

Right about the time the Australian Open 2024 was going on, Novak Djokovic dropped a bombshell interview. In there, he revealed how and why Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have never been friends with him. Novak Djokovic also mentioned that he is closer now with the younger lot of players than he ever was with either of the Big Three counterparts. After Rafael Nadal’s recent interview, Djokovic’s claims now sound more correct.

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal just proved that Novak Djokovic is perhaps accurate about why the Big Three are different from the current crop of players. Djokovic believes that he is closer with players like Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, etc since they are more communicative and expressive with each other. This is despite the fact that Djokovic is more than 10 years older than every single one of those players. Alcaraz, Sinner, and Zverev are 20, 22, and 26 years old respectively.

It could be the advent of social media as well, where people are constantly in touch with each other. Such was not the case when Djokovic first started and developed a rivalry with Federer and Nadal.

When Novak Djokovic started there was the Big Two, before the Big Three ever became a thing. Djokovic wasn’t easily welcomed, and he has spoken about this at length more than a few times. Federer didn’t like him at all when they started. He even openly criticized him after their 2006 Davis Cup clash, which started their everlasting rivalry. Djokovic wasn’t particularly close with Nadal either, since he felt that both of them united against him.

So, the only natural thing to assume was Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have grown closer to each other. But that’s not completely the case either, as was evident after Rafael Nadal’s most recent interview. The Spaniard explained that he has a lot of admiration for Federer and will always have but does not consider him a ‘friend’. This just proves that friendship, getting along, and overall camaraderie are far more prevalent now than it was before.

Why weren’t Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner?

Is it simply easier to be friends now than it was before? That shouldn’t generally be the case, but more comparisons between the two generations indicate that point. Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, for example, trained together at the former’s coach Juan Carlos Ferrero’s academy in Spain back in December 2023 during the off-season. The two players knew each other before they turned professionals too, perhaps making the relation a lot smoother. This is even as it is believed that Alcaraz vs Sinner will be the next biggest rivalry in tennis once Djokovic and Nadal retire.

When it comes to the Big Three, it could also be the bubbling rivalry between them which led to insecurities and perhaps lack of trust in opening up with each other in order to not be found out. In many other fields as well, top performers might not be close at all off their professional setups even if they work with or against each other.

On top of that, each of their personalities clash with one another. While Roger Federer seems to be more elegant with a calm demeanor, Djokovic is renowned for having fun with pranks up his sleeve and on multiple occasions getting into a rift with fans and his opponents. Rafael Nadal, on the other hand, is a very private person off the court, who is likeable for being humble and dedicated to his craft. His lack of English-speaking skills as compared to Federer and Djokovic also do not help his case, as Nadal himself admitted last year that he does not have friends on the ATP Tour now.

All of these may be reason enough for their non-friendly relations. But they have always had great admiration and respect for each other and continue to have it. Rafael Nadal even called Novak Djokovic the greatest tennis player of all time in his recent interview.

Jannik Sinner got his 2024 Rotterdam Open campaign off to a perfect start, demolishing Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets. One stunning retrieve from a disadvantageous position stunned fans on social media, who compared him to Novak Djokovic.

Sinner pulled off a serve-and-volley, rushing up to the net after serving. However, Van de Zandschulp countered it with a measured aerial lob over the Italian’s head. The reigning Australian Open champion rushed back and successfully returned the shot with a jaw-dropping endeavour. The local lad made Sinner run all over the court, but the latter fought hard to win the point.

Official global broadcaster TennisTV shared a clip of this point on their social media accounts. Fans lavished praise upon Jannik Sinner for his incredible court coverage and fitness. Some even compared it to Novak Djokovic, who is renowned for his physicality.

Sinner will now face Gael Monfils in the next round at the Rotterdam Open 2024.

Jannik Sinner justifies Novak Djokovic comparisons by winning three out of their last four matches

Over the last few months, Sinner has truly established himself as one of the most premier tennis players on the tour. The Djokovic comparisons soon followed, especially after the duo clashed twice in the 2023 ATP Finals. The Italian stunned everyone by defeating the Serb in the round-robin phase, putting his qualification under jeopardy. However, Djokovic went through and avenged his group stage defeat in the final. He beat the World No.4 to collect his seventh ATP Finals title.

Jannik Sinner soon got a chance to one up Novak Djokovic soon, when Italy faced Serbia in the 2023 Davis Cup Finals semi-final. He defeated the 24-time Grand Slam winner in his singles tie, also beating him in doubles. The Italians went on to win the Davis Cup title.

Most recently, Sinner beat Djokovic in the semi-finals of the 2024 Australian Open en route to winning his first Grand Slam. While Djokovic still leads 4-3 in their head-to-head, Sinner’s recent victories have fuelled their developing rivalry to great heights. He could potentially go level if they face off in the Indian Wells Masters or the Miami Open in the coming weeks.

As Gael Monfils prepares to take on Jannik Sinner for the fifth time, the Frenchman revealed when he realised the Italian’s true potential. He said he knew the latter would go on to achieve great things in the North American swing last year.

Sinner has scaled new heights in the last few months, bagging his first Grand Slam to top it off. It all started with his title triumph at the 2023 Canadian Open, his first ATP 1000 trophy.

Jannik Sinner faced and defeated Gael Monfils in the quarterfinals in Toronto last year. The former World No.6 recently said (via Sportal) that that was when he knew the World No.4 would achieve great things. He added Stan Wawrinka, whom Sinner defeated in the 2023 US Open, also believed the same after his match.

“I remember when he defeated me in Toronto and after that he played great against Wawrinka at the US Open: we knew his time would come.”

The loss in Toronto was Monfils’ fourth against Sinner. Despite his skewed head-to-head, it took him until September last year to tip the 22-year-old to achieve great things. Monfils said Sinner’s serve had greatly improved when they faced off in the 2023 Canadian Open. The World No.70 said an improved service made Jannik Sinner a tougher opponent, hence leading to the feeling he would achieve much success.

“He’s improved so much in his serve: now he has a very powerful serve. The last time I faced him in Toronto I was surprised at how well he served. This great improvement of his has made him even more difficult to face.”

Jannik Sinner vs Gael Monfils prediction for 2024 Rotterdam Open clash

Sinner and Monfils share a cordial relationship, with the Italian calling the latter a good friend ahead of their match. Their 2024 Rotterdam Open Round of 16 tie is scheduled for Thursday, February 15, not before 7:30 pm local time (1:30 pm ET).  Tennis Channel will livestream the match in the USA. The weather is predicted to be cloudy with high humidity. Temperatures will be around 12°C.

Jannik Sinner is a heavy favourite with odds of 1.07 to Gael Monfils’ 7.75, as per BetMGM (at the time of writing). The Frenchman beat Denis Shapovalov in the opener while the 2024 Australian Open champion thrashed Botic van de Zandschulp.

With a head-to-head lead of 4-1 and Monfils win coming back in 2019, Sinner also has the psychological advantage. He is on an incredible run of form, unbeaten in 2024 while collecting some top wins. Monfils is past his prime and will likely pose no threat. The 37-year-old, recently in the news for his disqualification from the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, is on a 2-3 record. The SportsRush’s Jannik Sinner vs Gael Monfils prediction favours the World No.4 to win in straight sets.

The ATP Tour 500 series Rotterdam Open 2024 is finally moving along to the second round, except a few Round 1 matches remain. One such match is Jannik Sinner vs Botic van de Zandschulp. Jannik Sinner hasn’t taken to court after his historic Australian Open win a month ago.

This is his next event and he would love to take an early domination against World No.66 Zandschulp. Sinner’s rank is 4. It hasn’t improved despite his AO 2024 win. Therefore, he would love to get an addition to his points and move ahead to world no. 3 or 2.

The Jannik Sinner vs Botic van de Zandshculp match will take place at the indoor hard courts of Rotterdam Ahoy at around 7:30 pm local time (1.30 PM ET) on Wednesday.

This is the first match for both of them at the Rotterdam Open 2024. Sinner, who is also the no.1 seeded player here, doesn’t get an early head start to the second round, unlike a lot of other ATP Tours. Jannik Sinner is going through the highs of highs, becoming the first Italian to win the Australian Open. He defeated Novak Djokovic thrice in the past six months, including the 6-1, 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3 win against the Serb in the AO 2024 semi-final. After that, he beat Daniil Medvedev 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 in the final. He should be comfortable against Zandschulp.

Botic van de Zandschulp is a Dutch player who saw some professional success in 2023. At the 2023 Miami Open, he reached the fourth round, his first time at any ATP Masters 1000 event. He defeated Alexei Popyrin and Casper Ruud in the process. At the 2023 BMW Open too, Zandschulp reached the semi-finals. These have been some of the finest performances by Zandschulp in recent times.

While Zandschulp has shown some promising signs of his prowess recently, he still stands very little chance against a superior opponent like Jannik Sinner at the moment. Therefore, The SportsRush’s prediction for the Jannik Sinner vs Botic van de Zandschulp match is in favor of the Italian.

Jannik Sinner vs Botic van de Zandschulp – What does history tell us?

The Jannik Sinner vs Botic van de Zandschulp contest has only happened once before. It was at this year’s Australian Open, en route Sinner’s road to victory. Just like the ATP Rotterdam Open 2024, Sinner’s first match at the ‘Happy Slam’ was against Zandschulp. Sinner won that match comfortably by 6-4, 7-5, 6-3.

The match will be streamed online live on Tennis TV and American audience can watch it on Tennis Channel. For the UK audience, it will stream on Sky Sports. The weather in Rotterdam is on the colder side. The temperature will be 9 degrees Celsius at 7 pm, around which time the match starts. Wind speed will be 18 km/h and humidity is maximum at 81%.

While both the players are extremely gracious with each other and go a long way back, this rivalry is getting hotter because of Jannik Sinner having joined in the Grand Slam race. On head-to-head, Sinner leads Alcaraz 4-3 as of February 2024.

Carlos Alcaraz is still ahead in the Grand Slams race, with 2 to his name. Here is how the Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner rivalry has panned out in the last 3 years, which has reminded many fans of the Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal one in the mid-2000s.

2021 – Tennis fans saw the Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner rivalry for the first time in 2021. The duo clashed at the Paris Masters, Round of 32 stage. Carlos Alcaraz emerged victorious on that occasion as he won in straight sets.

2022 – The Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner rivalry really came into it’s own during the 2022 season. Both the young stars faced off against each other three times. Sinner dominated throughout the year, not only winning twice against Alcaraz but also winning the Umag ATP 500 final against him.

The Italian even won against Alcaraz at the Wimbledon Championships in the Round of 16 in 4 sets. However, Alcaraz got back at Sinner at the US Open quarterfinals, in a thrilling 5-setter. Sinner and Alcaraz were tied at 2-2 on head-to-head at the end of 2022.

2023 – The latest edition of the Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner rivalry unfolded in 2023. The duo clashed on three occasions, and all of them being semifinals interestingly. Carlos Alcaraz won at the Indian Wells Masters match against the Italian. However, Jannik Sinner quickly got his revenge at the Miami Masters which followed soon after that, with a thrilling win. Jannik Sinner won the latest encounter between the duo at the Beijing Open ATP 500, to take a 4-3 lead in the head-to-head.

In 2024, the Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner rivalry could have 5 potential matchups minimum, 1 being at the ‘6 Kings Slam’ in Saudi Arabia in October 2024, although that tournament will not be counted in ATP records.

Remarkably, Jannik Sinner trained with Carlos Alcaraz at the Juan Carlos Ferrero Academy in Spain in December 2023 during the off-season. So this rivalry is expected to be competitive and yet not as heated as legends before them have had in the past. It was similar to the phase when in the Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal rivalry, the duo warmed up to each other after the early 2010s especially and invited as well as attended each other’s handpicked special events.

While Federer is 5 years elder to Nadal and perhaps more charismatic, Sinner is 2 years elder to Alcaraz and similarly more suave and elegant as compared to Alcaraz. The similarities are remarkable.

Sinner won his first Grand Slam at the age of 22, which made him almost replicate Federer, who won it 6 weeks before turning 22. On the other hand, Alcaraz won his first Grand Slam at the age of 19, same as Nadal. When the Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal rivalry began, that too was on a hard court like the Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner match in Paris in 2021. Nadal had beaten Federer in Miami in 2004, that too in straight sets and was also a Round of 32 match.

‘Who is playing in Rotterdam?’ is the question on every tennis fan’s mind after the conclusion of the Australian Open 2024. While the Dallas Open 2024 is currently the center of the men’s tennis world, it is not an ATP 500 event. The ABN Amro Open is the next big tournament i.e. ATP 500 event, after the Australian Open, and the craze for it is already building.

One of the big news to come out after the AO 2024, is that maiden Grand Slam winner Jannik Sinner will play next at the ABN Amro Open. He will skip the Dallas Open, Ope 13 Provenance, and Cordoba Open, and get right to the big ATP 500 event. The prize money for the winner at the 2023 edition of the Rotterdam Open was USD $414,931 approx (387,940 Euros) and it is expected that the figure could be approximately $420,000 approximately this year.

This time around, the total prize money increased to $22,99,689 (2,134,985 Euros). However, a further breakdown hasn’t been available yet.

So, ‘Who is playing in Rotterdam?’ The answer is simple. Sinner is not missing the tournament at any cost, and neither are Andrey Rublev, Holger Rune, Alex de Minaur, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Hubert Hurkacz, Ugo Humbert, Grigor Dimitrov among others. Sebastian Korda of the United States as well as the recent Open de Sud France 2024 champion, Alexander Bublik will be featuring in it as well.

It could well be Jannik Sinner vs Alex de Minaur in the final of the Rotterdam Open 2024 edition. de Minaur recently lost in the fourth round on home soil in the Australian Open to Rublev, so if not Sinner, the Russian could turn out to stand again in the way of the Australian again.

One big news though, is that a major player will not be competing at this event.

Daniil Medvedev, the winner of the Rotterdam Open 2023 and finalist at AO 2024, had to bow out of the tournament at the last moment. After a long and intense AO 2024, which also had him play a match till 4’o o’clock in the morning, Medvedev has decided to sit this one out. Body fatigue and his right foot injury were the reasons behind his unavailability.

Daniil Medvedev will be replaced by Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands, putting an end to the question ‘Who is playing in Rotterdam?’  Medvedev missing out on the 2024 Rotterdam Open only brings to mind his stunning win in the 2023 edition. Before Medvedev and Sinner faced each other at the Australian Open finals, the duo met in three other finals the previous year.

Unlike the Miami Open and China Open, Medvedev beat Sinner at the ABN Amro Open to win his maiden title at this ATP 500 Tour. The score was 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 as the young Italian didn’t stand any chance that day.

In 12 months, the tables have turned drastically. Sinner is now potentially the strongest in the world, having beaten Novak Djokovic three times in less than 12 months. He beat Medvedev at the AO finals and now stands a chance to win the Rotterdam Open for the first time. He will look to rack up those ATP points and go higher up in the rankings. So, no matter ‘Who is playing in Rotterdam?’, Sinner stands a chance to win big.
