Just a day before launch, reviews for Star Wars Jedi Survivor are pouring in. While impressions of the game are generally positive, the same can’t be said about its performance. The review build of the game points at some severe optimization issues on PC, leading to stutters, low frame rates, and high VRAM usage. Users with 4090’s are reporting 20+ GB VRAM usage while only playing at 1440p, not even 4k. Here’s a look at what users are reporting.

As the review embargo for the game lifted, poor PC port reviews started cropping up. The most notable example was a GameStar upload, showcasing a 4090 struggling to run the game at just 1440p. Stuttering and frame drop issues are aplenty in the gameplay video with frame rates dropping to the low 30s frequently. The VRAM usage on the GPU showed a worrying 20 GB occupied. Additionally, high-end cards like the 3080 cannot run the game at 4k due to VRAM constraints.

Another concerning note from the video is the poor CPU optimization. Only about 4 CPU threads were being efficiently used, leading users to believe poor optimization is the cause. In a new tweet, EA has confirmed that a lineup of fixes will ship in the weeks to come. This has led to criticism from many stating that shipping a broken game with post-launch updates to fix it is becoming the norm. A few recent examples of this practice arre Gotham Knights and The Last of Us Part 1 PC ports.

Aside from the poor performance, the game has been praised by many. With improved controls, more in-depth customization, and new features, the reviews are quite favorable. Star Wars Jedi Survivor comes out on April 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
