Quarterback Justin Fields’ future with the Chicago Bears has been nothing less than a swirl of speculations this season. Now, as the postseason is over, he has once again made headlines for his social media activity in the same context. Fields recently unfollowed the Bears on Instagram, a team that brought him to his NFL career in 2021. Consequently, his step has sparked intense speculation about his intentions and potential departure from the franchise.

The move comes at a time when the Bears are considering their options for the upcoming NFL Draft 2024. Moreover, with the No. 9 pick reserved for the Bears in 2024, rumors are circulating that they may select quarterback Caleb Williams. This uncertainty regarding the team’s quarterback situation has led to heightened tension between Fields and the franchise.

However, what has caught the attention of the NFL community is Justin Fields’ decision to follow three offensive weapons of another NFL team on Instagram. Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts, and Drake London have become his new social media interests, causing varied interpretations. One of the obvious ones is Fields’ transition to Atlanta with fans eagerly anticipating any further developments. Meanwhile, the Bears have yet to provide any official clarification on Fields’ social media activity or his future with the team. Also, Fields has a continued presence on Twitter, where he still follows the Bears.

With various mixed messages and rumors, the situation remains fluid and uncertain. As the speculation continues to mount, one thing is clear: Justin Fields’ social media activity has only added fuel to the fire. Thus, a flurry of reactions and suggestions followed with Atlanta being called a suitable new home for the Bears’ #1 quarterback.

Why Atlanta Falcons Present a Suitable home for Justin Fields?

As the 2024 NFL Draft approaches, the Atlanta Falcons emerge as a better destination for quarterback Justin Fields. With new hopes around Raheem Morris at the helm, the team offers both opportunity and potential for success.

The Falcons are in dire need of a franchise quarterback to lead their offense. Despite possessing a roster with playoff potential, their inconsistent quarterback play caused their elimination first amongst others in Week 18. Justin Fields, with his skill set and potential, could be the answer to their long-standing quarterback woes. Some other options could be Washington Commanders and New England Patriots, who deal with similar crises on their ends.

Despite their struggles at quarterback, the Falcons have remained competitive and narrowly missed out on the playoffs. Justin Fields would step into an offense equipped with weapons like wide receiver Calvin Ridley and tight end Kyle Pitts, providing him with the talent and support needed to thrive in the NFL. The Falcons’ offensive scheme could also fit well with Fields’ strengths, maximizing his impact on the field.

The clock is ticking for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With star wide receiver Mike Evans set to hit free agency next month, the Pewter Pirates are facing a crucial decision. As the franchise weighs its options for the upcoming season, one thing is clear — Mike Evans is no ordinary wideout. He is a game-changer, a record-setter, and a fan favorite. But with contract negotiations looming, the pressure is on to make a quick move.

So, what’s the plan? Can the Buccaneers secure his future with a hefty extension, or risk losing him to the open market? As it turns out, Tampa Bay has a chance to free up some cash by extending Mike Evans before Monday.

Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports states in his article that the team could save a hefty $7.387 million on the 2024 salary cap. If they miss this deadline, they risk having to take a hit on their cap space due to void years in Evans’ current contract.

Mike Evans has been a rock-solid player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ever since they picked him in 2014, he’s been smashing records in all categories. He’s had ten seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards in a row! And last year was one of his best yet. He caught 79 passes, racked up 1,255 yards, and scored 13 touchdowns in 17 games, helping his team make it to the playoffs.

The five-time Pro Bowler has basically rewritten the Buccaneers’ receiving records. Now, as the 30-year-old WR heads into his 11th season, he is looking to secure a lucrative contract.

There is no doubt that Evans is in high demand. Other major rival teams are already eyeing him up. Why? Because he is a proven talent who brings leadership to the locker room. So, if the Buccaneers don’t act fast, they might lose him to another team.

Mike Evans is likely gunning for a contract that puts him at the top of the wide receiver salary chart. His current deal, which he signed in 2018, is worth $82.5 million over five years. But he is looking to up the ante.

Comparing him to other wide receivers isn’t straightforward. His performance speaks for itself, but he is a bit older (30) than some of the other big names in the league. In the end, it’s a balancing act for the Buccaneers. They want to keep Evans and also need to be mindful of their cap space. It’s a tough decision, but one thing’s for sure – if they let Evans walk, they will be losing a key piece of their puzzle.

If Not Tampa Bay, Where Else Can Mike Evans Land?

Teams like the New Orleans Saints, the Carolina Panthers, and the Chicago Bears could all be eyeing Mike Evans if he hits free agency. With the Saints facing uncertainty around Michael Thomas and the Panthers needing to reinforce their offensive weapons for Bryce Young, Evans could offer the size and reliability they are seeking.

In New Orleans, Evans could fill the void left by Thomas, providing a strong presence in the red zone and in one-on-one matchups. Meanwhile, the Panthers might see Evans as the perfect replacement for DJ Moore, who has moved to the Bears.

For the Bears, finding a No. 2 receiver to pair with their current roster is a top priority. Evans’ ability to make plays down the field could be just what they need to boost their offense. With Darnell Mooney’s regression last year, adding a player like Evans could inject new life into Chicago’s passing game and provide their quarterback, potentially drafted at No. 1, with a reliable target.

Other teams like the New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, and Jacksonville Jaguars could also be in the mix for Evans. The Giants are in search of a true No. 1 receiver to build their offense around, and Evans’ track record of consistent performance could make him an attractive option.

The defending champs, who have been lacking in the receiving corps all season, would be looking to add a threat on the outside. The same goes for the Jaguars, who have been separately vying for a Super Bowl appearance since its inception and perhaps Evans could be their answer.

Editor’s Note — As per recent reports, Mike Evans and the Buccaneers could not reach a contract extension before the Monday deadline. The team might have ended the stalemate with Evans since their two veterans, Baker Mayfield and Antoine Winfield Jr., are also set to hit free agency next month.

Blake Proehl, a former wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, saw his NFL dreams dashed when he suffered a torn ACL in his rookie season. Despite going undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft, Proehl signed with the Vikings with hopes of making an impact on the field. Unfortunately, his aspirations were cut short as he never got the chance to play a single game.

During the 2021 season, Proehl spent his entire time on injured reserve. Despite making it to the practice squad in the following season, he was unable to secure a spot on the playing roster and was eventually waived by the Vikings on August 2023. Since then he has served as an NFL free agent.

Proehl, whose NFL dreams were cut short, is now pursuing a career in music. At 25 years old, he’s taking center stage as a contestant on American Idol. As he transitions from the football field to the music stage, fans are curious about his NFL career earnings and net worth.

In his two seasons spent with the Minnesota Vikings, he had a base salary totaling $867,000. Additionally, he received a prorated bonus of $5,000 and had a guaranteed salary of $100,000. However, Blake’s career earnings in the NFL amounted to $568,000 according to Over The Cap. As of 2024, he has a net worth of around $1-2 million, which mostly he amassed through playing in the NFL.

While Blake Proehl shared his father’s passion for football, he also had a deep love for music. Following in the footsteps of his father, Ricky Proehl, a seasoned NFL player with 17 seasons under his belt, Blake initially set his sights on making a name for himself in the football world.

Ricky’s illustrious career saw him playing as a wide receiver for several teams, including the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, St. Louis Rams, Carolina Panthers, and Indianapolis Colts. Notably, he also participated in four Super Bowls, securing victory in two of them.

However, Blake’s trajectory took a turn when he suffered an injury, forcing him to chase a different dream. Despite the setback, this shift opened doors for his hidden musical talents to emerge, offering him the opportunity to bring back his recognition and success.

Blake Proehl Strikes Gold at American Idol

While he was still active in the NFL in 2021, Blake Proehl for the first time found recognition as a singer when a video of him singing “In Case You Didn’t Know” by Brett Young to his grandmother went viral on TikTok. That particular video amassed over 28 million views on the social media platform.

Recently, during his audition for American Idol, he chose to perform the same song, bringing his “Nana” along for support. Before singing, he shared his life story with the judges, detailing his NFL career and the challenges he faced after his injury. Proehl stated,

“I grew up in a football family. But I got a really bad injury. Doctors said, ‘It’ll be a success story if you’re able to run again.’”

Following came an emotional performance that earned him applause from judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. Perry was so impressed that she believed with their guidance Blake could reach the top 10 in the show. Mesmerized by his talent, the judges unanimously voted to send him to Hollywood with a golden ticket.

Fans eager to follow Proehl’s musical journey on “American Idol” can tune in every Sunday as the show airs on ABC at 8 p.m. EST. Additionally, the show is available for streaming on FuboTV, which offers a free trial for new users.

Rumors of Russell Wilson’s departure from the Denver Broncos are intensifying. Despite improvement in his second season under head coach Sean Payton, Wilson’s future with the team became uncertain after backup QB Jarrett Stidham started in the final two games of the 2023 season.

Speculations about the Broncos QB leaving Denver escalated when news spread that Russell Wilson was selling his mansion in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. According to the Denver Post, Wilson and his wife Ciara are quietly hosting tours for potential buyers, although they haven’t publicly confirmed their plans yet.

The Denver Broncos traded Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks in March 2022 and a month later he bought his Colorado mansion for $25 million. The franchise saw Wilson as a long-time starting quarterback, as right before the regular season began Wilson signed a 5-year, $242.5 million contract extension with Denver.

When Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara purchased their home, they likely never imagined they would be searching for a new one in just a year. Despite this, their $25 million investment marked the priciest home sale in Denver, surpassing the previous record of $16 million.

Situated on a five-acre property, Wilson’s mansion boasts 20,000 square feet of living space, featuring four bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. The lavish abode also offers an indoor swimming pool, a basketball court, and a guest apartment complete with its own kitchen.

Russell Wilson, whose future in the league remains uncertain, faces a tough spot. With a no-trade clause and no incentive to waive it, he’s likely to be released from the team by mid-March. NFL squads in need of a seasoned quarterback are surely keeping a close watch on Wilson’s situation.

Landing Options for Russell Wilson for the 2024 NFL Season

Despite the possibility of Russell Wilson departing Denver, the quarterback could attract interest from several NFL teams in need of an experienced QB. Wilson could find himself landing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, offering a fresh start and veteran leadership they may need. Alternatively, the Washington Commanders could be a fit, especially if they draft another quarterback, as Wilson’s experience could complement Sam Howell’s game.

The Tennessee Titans, amidst a rebuild, might benefit from Wilson’s guidance for young quarterback Will Levis. If the Chicago Bears decide to move on from Justin Fields, Wilson could step in as a temporary option, aiding the development of a new rookie QB. Lastly, the New England Patriots, under new leadership, could utilize Wilson’s winning experience to transition into a new era.

Despite facing challenges in Denver, Russell Wilson’s illustrious 10 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks solidified his status as a future NFL Hall of Famer. Moreover, after a rough 2022 season, he bounced back this season, showcasing his skills as a capable quarterback. Moving on from the Denver Broncos to join one of the mentioned teams could be the best move for him. With no doubts about his abilities, he could even contend for the Comeback Player of the Year award next season based on his performances.

The online chatter is filled to the brim with rumors about USC QB Caleb Williams’ future. He recently declared for the 2024 NFL draft, solidifying his status as the frontrunner for the upcoming draft’s No. 1 pick. Fans and analysts alike are now anticipating the unfolding draft drama, eager to discover where Caleb lands.

The Chicago Bears hold the coveted first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft after the Panthers lost to the Jaguars in the Season Finale, leading to their 7-10 record. With this losing record and uprising doubts around Bryce Young, the Monsters of the Midway could be eyeing a quarterback, and Caleb Williams might just be the answer for them.

But does Williams really want to start his NFL journey with the Chicago Bears? Well, according to NFL analyst Colin Cowherd, Williams isn’t keen on the Bears. On his show The Herd“, Cowherd spilled the beans that Williams is more inclined to join the Washington Commanders, his hometown team, as he has spent most of his time living in DC. Colin Cowherd said,

“I think it’s possible that Washington trades up and Chicago allows Washington to trade up because Caleb and his group do not want to go to Chicago. He is from the DC area. The big concern for Caleb Williams is, you have to admit this. Where you land matters, Chicago has never developed a star QB.”

Cowherd suggested that if this is the case, Washington, holding the #2 overall pick, should swap with the Bears to pick Williams as their main quarterback. He also pointed out the Bears’ historical struggle in developing top-notch quarterbacks.

Following Cowherd’s remarks, the NFL community chimed in with their opinions on the ongoing discussions. Social media was split, with some football fans agreeing with Colin, while others dismissed his statements as ‘rubbish’.

Someone else expressed,

Despite ongoing discussions about his future, Caleb Williams hasn’t clearly stated which NFL team he wants to join. Currently, the best guess is the Bears, a strong team with star WR DJ Moore. The Bears had a better season with a 7-10 record compared to Washington’s 4-13. The Bears are improving, and with a QB change, they could become a serious playoff contender, similar to the 2023 Houston Texans, who made it to the Divisional round with rookie QB CJ Stroud.

If Not Caleb Williams, Who Can the Chicago Bears Draft in 2024?

If the Chicago Bears go with Colin Cowherd’s suggestion and let the Washington Commanders pick Caleb Williams, they still have a good option in North Carolina QB Drake Maye. The critics are even thinking Maye could be the top pick in the 2024 NFL draft instead of Williams.

Maye led the North Carolina Tar Heels to an 8-5 record in the 2023 college football season, throwing for 3608 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions in 12 games. Comparatively, Williams had a similar season at USC with an 8-5 record, throwing for 3633 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. Both QBs had a 4000+ passing yards season in 2022. Despite starting for just the last two seasons, Maye has proven his skill with a strong performance. So, if it’s not Williams, Maye looks like a solid choice for the Bears.

Talking about the Bears’ current QB, Justin Fields, he hasn’t dazzled in his three seasons, consistently landing the team in losing records. He hasn’t surpassed five wins in a season, and this year, with 13 starts, he ended with a 5-8 record, throwing for 2562 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions. Keeping his performances in mind, the Chicago Bears seem determined to switch up their QB, and they’re definitely eyeing a new one in the draft.

The Baltimore Ravens struck gold with the acquisition of four-time Pro Bowler Roquan Smith in a successful mid-2022 season trade with the Chicago Bears. Just a month ago, as he geared up for his second playoff season with the Ravens, Smith opened up about how the trade actually went down.

In the “Punch Line Podcast with Marlon Humphrey,” Roquan Smith recalled requesting a trade from his former team, the Chicago Bears, in July 2022. However, he never thought it would materialize, as the Bears management had already stated their trust in him.

Roquan vividly talks about the atmosphere before the trade, highlighting his focus on leading the team instead of discussing his trade talks in the locker room. The fact that he wasn’t even aware of the upcoming trade deadline added another layer of surprise to the narrative.

The turning point arrived when he got called to the Bears GM’s office. The star linebacker wasn’t sure why they called the meeting, especially since he was in the middle of discussing his contract with the team. This made him feel like something big was about to happen. Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles, after a tense four-minute build-up, finally decided to reveal that Smith was getting traded to the Baltimore Ravens. Reacting to the trade, Smith felt,

“It’s crazy how everything works out. But I never would have thought about Baltimore. And then when he said Baltimore, I’m like, crap, what’s in Baltimore? I’m like, What am I close by?”

Roquan Smith was traded on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, right after playing his final game with the Bears against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. He mentioned that when the trade happened on Monday; the Ravens were gearing up for their next game on Nov. 7, 2022, against the New Orleans Saints on a Monday night.

He remembered getting the news around 2 PM (Chicago time) and getting home at 4:30 in the evening after a tiring day. The Ravens wanted him at their facility ASAP and tried to put him on a flight that same night. However, he felt he needed a day to discuss with his family and closed ones, so he chose the first flight the next morning at 6:30 AM.

Roquan Smith had a mix of emotions when he found out about the trade. Instead of going to the locker room, he went to the training room to share a moment with the people he was close to – the trainers, equipment staff, and teammates. He disclosed that each one of them had a hard time believing what had just happened.

In the 2022 season, he played the first eight games with the Bears and the remaining nine regular-season games plus a playoff game with the Ravens. Throughout his five seasons with the Bears, he made 524 tackles, 16.5 sacks, and 20 QB hits.

A week after the trade, when he put on the Baltimore Ravens uniform, Roquan Smith knew that a new successful chapter of his career was starting. In 2022, he earned his first Pro Bowl and was also selected for the First Team All-Pro honors. He started in all 25 games in his two seasons with the Ravens, recording 244 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 6 QB hits.

Moreover, he played in his first AFC Championship title game on Sunday but missed the chance for his first Super Bowl ticket as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Ravens with a final score of 17-10.

Roquan Smith is Walking in the Legendary Shadows of Ray Lewis

Roquan Smith is currently considered one of the best defensive players in the league, drawing comparisons to the legendary linebacker Ray Lewis, who played for the Baltimore Ravens for 17 seasons. A few months ago, NFL Films released a video featuring Ray Lewis and Roquan Smith sitting together, discussing their shared love for the game.

When the NFL star was asked what it meant to play for the Ravens, Smith shared his aspirations to be held similarly to legendary Ravens players, including the two-time Super Bowl champion Ray Lewis himself. He stated,

“Honestly, it’s such a rich tradition. It’s crazy just to step in and try to be the best version of myself and hopefully one day be compared to a guy like Ray.”

Moreover, Roquan Smith revealed that his favorite aspect of Lewis’s game was the physicality he brought to the field. Describing the former LB as the gold standard, Smith admired the tenacity and impact of his hits, stating, “Once Ray hits you, you know who hit you.”

Having watched some game footage, Ray Lewis also paid Roquan Smith a big compliment, referring to him as a “hunter” on the field. Lewis recognized the dominance in the Ravens linebacker’s playing style and acknowledged his effectiveness in bringing down opponents, reminiscent of his own playing days.

This exchange highlighted the mutual respect between the two great linebackers from two different generations. Roquan Smith, since his last trade, has been recognized as a formidable force on the field for the Ravens, similar to the hunting prowess that Lewis had during his illustrious career.

This season hasn’t unfolded as the Bears envisioned, especially when it comes to Justin Fields. As the Bears approach the season finale, the franchise reported a new QB move ahead of the Sunday matchup creating suspicion among fans. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler dropped a tweet revealing that the Bears are trying out free agent QB Chris Streveler. Are things getting sketchy for Fields in Chicago?

The franchise was eliminated from playoff contention but has continued to create a shuffle. They are set to host their rivals, the Packers, who are in dire need of a win to solidify their playoff berth. The Bears in the meanwhile are shifting their focus on a new free agent QB as per Fowler via X, “The #Bears are working out free agent QB Chris Streveler today, per source.”

Chris Streveler, much like Fields, boasts a dual-threat capability on the field. The 28-year-old was placed behind Andy Dalton in his debut season but shone brighter in 2022 with a starting victory against the 49ers. And now that the Bears are trying out the QB with a similar set of skills, fans couldn’t help but wonder about Justin Fields’ future,

“Fields is done,” said one fan, commenting on Fowler’s post.

Another had a similar stance, writing, “QB Controversy Activated!”

Some also took hits at Streveler, referring to his time with the Jets, writing, “Couldn’t crack the roster on a very deep Jets QB room”.

A fan noted “Makes sense” after a difficult season for the Bears.

The Chicago Bears took their seventh win against the Atlanta Falcons with Justin Fields enjoying much of the limelight. He completed 20 of 32 passes for 268 yards and scored a touchdown. The 37-17 win over Atlanta ended up in an encore with fans shouting, “We want Justin!”

Not only this but teammates DJ Moore and Jaquan Brisker came on record to praise Fields for one of his best games. The Chicago Bears now own the first overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. This comes in handy in considering the reshuffle headlines, especially as the situation has become intense after the revelation.

Could Streveler Replace Justin Fields?

Christopher L. Streveler has emerged as a dynamic American football quarterback. Turning 29 just a day ago, his rise has been nothing short of remarkable. His journey began with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, amassing impressive stats over three years. A transfer to the University of South Dakota elevated his game, where he shone with 6081 passing yards, and 54 touchdowns- leading him to the MVFC Offensive Player of the Year in 2017.

His stellar performance did not go unnoticed as he stepped into the CFL only to emerge as a dual threat. Notably, with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, he got the flavor of victory winning the 107th Grey Cup Championship in 2019. Fields, on the other hand, had a usual trajectory, playing for Georgia and Ohio State before being selected in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Transitioning to the NFL, Streveler displayed great adaptability. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2020 and made his debut against the mighty Niners. Throwing for 105 yards and rushing for a first down, he soon got the public limelight.

He also had stints with teams like Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins, leading him to the New York Jets. In a Week 16 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he replaced Zach Wilson, completing 10-of-15 passes for 90 yards while rushing for 54 yards. His alleged predecessor Fields, with the Bears in his two years, gained traction with his first career victory against the Lions in 2021.

With Streveler’s football trajectory now gaining traction, the NFL community is buzzing with speculations of an impending replacement. What’s on the cards for them has kept fans and analysts eager for the Bears’ upcoming moves. While suspicion may be arising about Fields’ future, the Bears are in need of a backup quarterback due to the absence of Tyson Bagent, leaving only Nathan Peterman as Justin Fields’ backup.

Lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and global rap star Lil Wayne recently sat down with his old friend Skip Bayless on his show, Undisputed. They were accompanied by HOF WR Michael Irvin and SB Winner Keyshawn Johnson as they discussed Aaron Rodgers still referring to Green Bay as “we” despite moving to the Big Apple.

Bayless asks Wayne whether he’s fine with it, and the rapper replies, “Absolutely, that’s Aaron being Aaron. He probably really believes that’s still my Packers.” And Skip asks if that offends him, to which Wayne replies, “Not at all. Cause I believe when we are successful, he’s gonna root for us.”

Lil Wayne has high hopes for his Packers. He believes they’re going to win against Chicago and then take on the mighty Dallas Cowboys at ‘Jerry’s World’ in the first playoff game. And to top it all, he announced that they would be “turning Jerry’s world to Wayne’s world that night” referring to the Cowboys’ home turf, AT&T Stadium.

Nonetheless, other ‘Undisputed’ co-hosts, Bayless and Irvin, tried to convince the 5x Grammy winner that Rodgers just wanted to ignite the Bears, and that is why he said what he said. Michael Irvin called it ‘Rodgers pouring honey on Love.’

Jordan Love Takes on Chicago Bears With the Cheeseheads Behind Him

But Wayne won’t budge, no matter what others say. More than Rodgers, the celebrity Cheesehead is concentrating on Jordan Love and the current squad. And why shouldn’t he? The first-year starter has 16 TDs and 1 interception in his last 7 outings. Without a doubt, he’s proven that with a strong defense at his disposal, he will lead the Packers to a mighty conclusion.

And Wayne fully agrees, announcing to the panel that “Cheese don’t go well with honey.”

Bayless then argues that the Chicago team has been playing at a much better level than where they started. Irvin chimed in, noting that there’s no reason to believe that the Bears aren’t gonna play just as hard next week because they are out of playoff contention. They will probably give them hell since “Justin Fields is playing for his job.”

On the other hand, Johnson believes that the Packers have a much bigger motivation to win that night. They do not want a repeat of what happened last year. They had a big chance of making the playoffs against Detroit. It was a ‘win and get in’ situation, and Aaron Rodgers threw an interception late in the game to cost Green Bay their playoff chances.

Both Keyshawn Johnson and Lil Wayne believe that they’ll do everything in their power to stop this from happening. According to them, HC Matt LaFleur is going to go to Jordan Love and explain what is required. Put the bag of responsibility on Love’s shoulders. And Lil Wayne believes that by the end of the game, Love will be so confident in his abilities that he’ll go to coach and say, “See Coach, you should’ve played me last year against Detroit.”

It will all come together this Sunday when the Green and the Gold clash with the Monsters of the Midway. In a similar fashion to last year, when Rodgers failed the team for the last time, they will have a playoff berth on the line against their divisional rivals. The stage is set for Jordan Love. But what will he do with it?

“This One I Found Really Offensive”: Skip Bayless Rips Aaron Rodgers For Addressing Packers As “We” https://thesportsrush.com/nfl-news-this-one-i-found-really-offensive-skip-bayless-rips-aaron-rodgers-for-addressing-packers-as-we/ Fri, 05 Jan 2024 21:25:44 +0000 https://thesportsrush.com/?p=620133 As the NFL’s 2023 season nears its conclusion, a fierce rivalry awaits between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears. As the NFL’s 2023 season nears its conclusion, a fierce rivalry awaits between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears. However, with Aaron Rodgers only playing one game for the Jets this season, it seems he still has that Packers spirit in him. While enthusiastically discussing the upcoming rivalry, Rodgers addressed the Packers as “we”, leaving Skip Bayless slightly unsettled.

NFL analyst Skip Bayless expressed strong criticism of Aaron Rodgers. He found Rodgers’ recent statement offensive for still associating himself with the Packers. Bayless reminded him that the team now belongs to QB Jordon Love and that he no longer plays for them. Skip Bayless stated,

“This one I found really offensive. This is Jordan Love’s team and you no longer play for the Packers. Nor were you ever as loved in the locker room as Jordan already is loved in that locker room and number two, you’re certainly a shrewd enough operator to know if you pour enough gasoline on the arch rivals fire.”

Skip suggested that Rodgers who played 18 seasons for the Packers wasn’t loved as much in the locker room as Jordan Love currently is. According to him Rodgers only looking to stir up trouble between the two teams and feels the Jets QB’s recent statement has only increased the chances of the Bears causing an upset at Lambeau Field.

Bayless continued by suggesting that the star quarterback for the Jets, might not wish for the Packers’ quarterback to do well. He mentioned a past game where Rodgers’ former team, the Packers, lost to the Detroit Lions in the last week of the season. Bayless hinted that Rodgers might be trying to create similar problems for Love, just like when Rodgers couldn’t guide his old team to the playoffs in the previous season.

Aaron Rodgers’ Faith In the Packers Continues To Shine

It is going to be a thrilling season for the Green Bay Packers since it is not the only matchup they need to win to clinch a playoff spot but they also need to face their rivals to achieve it. Recently, Aaron Rodgers appeared on the Pat McAfee Show where while discussing the upcoming rivalry game he sided with his former team. Rodgers stated,

“It’s the Super Bowl for the Bears just about every year because they haven’t been to the playoffs in for so long [since the 2020 season]. We’ve won, [Packers head coach] Matt [LaFleur] has never lost to them, so nine in a row. … Is it a rivalry anymore? If they can’t beat us, is it a rivalry? Every coach that gets hired in Chicago, his first goal is to beat Green Bay.”

Even though Rodgers is no longer with the Packers, he used “we” and “us” which caught the attention of fans and analysts alike. He labeled the Bears as a no-match against the Packers as under coach Matt LaFleur’s leadership Green Bay has won nine consecutive games against the Chicago Bears.

The last time the Bears won against the Packers was in 2018 and since then they are on a nine-game losing streak. Moreover, in their last 15 games against the Packers, they have only managed to win a single game. Once again the two teams will meet for the 208th time and while the Packers will look for a playoff seat, the Bears would want to end their four-season losing streak.

Justin Fields has picked things up for the Chicago Bears after returning from a left thumb injury. After a slow start against the Lions in Week 11, he has racked up four wins in the next five weeks. For their final bout, Monsters of the Midway will face the Packers, and Fields quickly captured the media’s attention with his bold comments about the opponent’s fanbase.

During his recent presser, the former Buckeyes star humorously quipped that the Packers fans, also known as Cheeseheads, will be super loud during the upcoming game as there’s not much to do in Green Bay except for watching football. He remarked,

“There’s not much to do in Green Bay except watch football,” followed by, “It’s going to be a great environment for us to play in, and hopefully, we’ll have a great game and get the win on Sunday.”

It’s certainly something coming from a quarterback whose future on his team is in jeopardy. Moreover, his team is also dead last in the NFC North. Nevertheless, fans have taken his playful jab with grace and showered praise on the star QB.

Following a victorious game against the Falcons, the atmosphere among Da Bears was electrifying. Enthusiastic cheers of “We want Justin” echoed throughout the stadium, a reaction to Justin Fields’ remarkable performance where he amassed 268 yards and a touchdown.

However, the debate around his return as the quarterback in 2024 seems like a 50-50 proposition. ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler has noted that Fields’ recent playmaking skills have complicated the Bears’ decisions for the upcoming draft. He further added that the Bears might get a second or third-round pick for their rookie QB.

If the team decided to double down and commit to Fields, it could make quite a dent in 2025. However, it could still turn out to be a bargain for a starting quarterback of his caliber.

However, the quarterback class of 2025, featuring talents like Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, poses a tantalizing alternative. Another layer to this complexity is the tension between Fields and offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. Fields’ comments about a less-than-stellar performance against the Buccaneers hinted at discord, suggesting Getsy’s system might not be the best fit for his skill set.

Previewing the Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears

As we turn our attention to the Green Bay Packers, their situation with quarterback Jordan Love mirrors the Bears’ quandary. Green Bay, opting for a one-year extension over a fifth-year option, has tied much of Love’s 2024 compensation to performance incentives. For instance, he will take home $500k if the team makes the playoffs, as per Sports Illustrated. Moreover, there’s a playoff berth at stake.

A win against the Bears would not only secure a playoff spot for the Packers but also boost Love’s potential of inking a lucrative contract extension with the team. The Packers have the home advantage, and it’s not like they haven’t already beaten the Bears this season. In their Week 2 bout, the Green and the Gold clinched a win with an 18-point lead.

All in all — the stakes are incredibly high, not just for the teams but for their respective quarterbacks. Fields, with his future in the balance, faces a critical test against a motivated Green Bay led by Jordan Love.
