Given how the law operates in Russia in case of a crime like this, innumerable people around the world opined that Griner should have refrained from bringing a controversial substance to an airport.
However, a lot of people also came out in her support and were pressurizing the US government to indulge in talks with the Russian authorities so that the WNBA champion can be brought back to her home.

Finally, the prayers of all her fans were answered when current US President Joe Biden announced that Brittney is coming back to the States.

“I’m glad to say Brittney’s in good spirits, she needs time and space to recover,” Biden claimed at the White House. While many people are celebrating Griner’s release, a lot of Americans are not happy with the price they had to pay to get her back.
The Biden administration was in talks with the Russian authorities for quite some time regarding Griner and both parties finally struck common ground when it was proposed that Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout will be freed by the US in exchange for Griner.
“The Russian citizen has been returned to his homeland,” the Russian authorities said in a statement confirming the smooth conduct of the exchange of prisoners.

Rapoport was hammered by the fans who pointed out that there is absolutely no reason to celebrate Brittney as a hero as she did something illegal on foreign soil and ended up becoming the main reason behind the release of a Russian arms dealer.
